Stock tubular side steps

OK, gang, quick question...I'm prepared for the possibility of having to order my next jeep. I have in mind a Willys Wheeler package. My question is, I know the Willys comes standard with rock rails, and that there is also the option of tubular side steps. If the steps are chosen as an option, are they in place of the rock rails or in addition to? Anybody have pics of what the stock tubular steps look like? Has anyone here selected them and if so, are you pleased with them or would aftermarket have been a better choice?

I will probably want to get some sort of steps since my wife is somewhat vertically challenged and I think it would be helpful for her. Just wondering if the stock ones are any good or should I just save my money for an aftermarket set. All opinions appreciated. Thanks

I think the factory side steps replace the factory rails. There are rails that you can put on your Jeep with the factory rails like the Barricade Rock Sliders. They'll give you a step and also some additional rocker protection.

I personally think you'd be better off with aftermarket steps, but I'm a little biased! Let me know if you have questions or if you'd like a quote on anything.

Yes, they replace the rails:

The MOPAR "Enhanced" rail would be a cool option, but I don't know if they have it any more for the Willys or otherwise - it's a rail with a built in step.

The factory tubular steps are a nice option. They won't hold up in rocks though, but mine did save me once when I accidentally drove over a large downed tree branch (6" round)However if you plan on going aftermarket get the Rock rails, they have way more resale value.

I would personally advise against getting aftermarket rails that bolt on below the factory rock rails. For one, the factory rails a kinda heavy, and become useless if you bolt something on below them. Secondly it just looks terrible. Now these are my opinions but there are a lot of quality sliders/steps/rails out there to choose from.

Thanks for the info, everyone. I just might go ahead and choose the steps as an option...I really don't think I'll ever need protection from rocks around these parts...I'd have to drive 500 miles from here to even find a big rock . But the steps would come in handy on a regular basis.

Keep the Rubi Rails that come with the Willys, then buy yourself a nice pair of ACE Rock Slides to complete the look.

ACE Rails are tough and solid.

drink the Cool aide You wont regret it.
