Well, never cracked one on my previous two pickup trucks, but I just had it happen to me on the Jeep. 60K miles, I guess I can't complain.

Mine made it almost 9 months and about two weeks ago got hit. It's low and out of my site of vision...and surprisingly just staying and not spreading. I as well plan to leave it and not fix it until it gets worse. I've already been hit by a few others since that and they haven't cracked but knowing my luck I'll replace it and crack it an hour later.

Less than 1 year

Took a rock/stone almost immediately but got the chip filled -- by the next summer, the Houston heat had cracked the windshield all the way across...

My inspection sticker guy has never made me replace the windshield going on 5 years now

66,000 miles

Driving home from work today following behind big truck pulling a trailer. When merging onto interstate there is a rather good size bump in the road. Trailer bounced very aggressively and launched gravel like a shotgun blast. Several of the star cracks plus one biggun about 8-9 inches long...
New windshield on Monday morning.

Ironic to see this thread come up for me. On wednseday I was at a red light and saw that windshield van you see in the commercials(I forgot the name of it). I started to think to myself wow it's been 14 months and my windshield looks brand new.... I pass by the van and it was replacing a Wrangler windshield, in fact an Anvil one like me. Fast forward 2 days and now I have a small crack.

I caught a rock right on the edge of the passenger side a few weeks after I got my '12 (used) about 7 months ago.. the crack slowy grew until it went all the way to the center.. I went ahead and had it replaced today.. I'm paying out of my pocket and didnt care about the little Jeep logo so I got the cheaper non OEM glass.

Got my first after 4 months from a douchbag cutting between me to catch the exit last minute. Caught right at top edge of glass. Had it fixed as it was spreading into my view . Fast forward 2 years to the month and caught one directly below right above wiper but that one spread all the way thru passenger side. No idea where that came from. Then third one was exactly a year later to the week going under an overpass. Caught edge in middle of passenger side and that spread into the other crack. Kinda reminds me of that lightning strike shown in the old hulk tv show I remember as a kid. My line of site is still unaffected so until I can't see or have to pass a safety inspection there is no point of wasting money .

After being a loyal customer of State Farm since 1982 - I was notified last month that they are going to discontinue windshield coverage on my policy since I had two claims within 2 years. Currently looking for another insurance company.

If your record is good otherwise check out Erie. That's who I'm with and they've been great both my claims. I have heard issues(from other insurance peeps-FWTW) that if you have anything at-fault then they will try to drop you or it's expensive. But I have great coverage on my JKU and '06 mustang and it runs me around $100/month

Edit: never mind because I don't have windshield replacement so in not sure what that would add to mine or if they would penalize you for using it.

The agent made a snied comment that I have totaled out a couple of cars. I reminded him the first time they didn't pay a dime as it was not my fault and it was a 5 vehicle smash up on the freeway - I ended up being the last vehicle hit.

The 2nd time I hit a deer going 70 mph - may have totaled the car but the medical part was less than $1K which is darn lucky because it could have been so much worse and my air bags didn't deploy. The car was old and the pay out was only $3500. I had a 1K deductible at the time.

But that went under comprehensive and they are counting that against me. Geez that sucker ran right in front of my car and I had maybe a split second to react which was basically time to say "Oh Chit!" and bang!

Just makes me mad that I have a pretty darn good driving record after over 30 years of driving and they pull that crap on me. I have had no tickets at all the past 15 years.

Sorry, rant over.

So glad I got my wife out of State Farm. They're such a shi**y insurance company IMO. We had USAA, but Geico beat their prices. So far so good with Geico. We paid $1 for OEM windshield replacement (one time thus far on Jeep).

I've only owned the Jeep for a month and I got my first windshield repair this week. A chip with small cracks right below the driver side line of sight from a rock at highway speed. Fortunately, it was no cost to me at SafeLite with GEICO.

Never had a windshield filled before, but I learned that it doesn't necessarily make the chip any less visible-- certainly didn't in my case. Next time I will likely opt to replace with an OEM windshield because I am a sucker for the stickers.

I guess I'm really lucky. Had mine for 80k miles. Been hit by thousands of rocks which is pretty common on Mexico's roads. Not a single crack... 2008 jku.

Glass cracked in half by attempting to fix a stone chip plus a nasty spider web, all in less than two months of ownership / 2700 miles

Well just add me to the list. approx 2 1/2 years old, with 12000 miles on it.
A rock from a dump truck on the freeway. The crack has no spread to about 18".
Not in my line of sight, so will get it replaced this Fall.

Same here. Rock via dump truck on freeway. In two days the chip turned into a 3 foot crack, luckily all on the passenger side. I've had it like that for about 2 months now. I'm in no hurry to fix it, since it'll just happen again. Hoping not to get hassled by The Law, since it's not in my line of sight.

I'm on my second. Buzzard took out the last one when he flew into it at 70 MPH. Pictures are on my build page.

I was the same way. It cost me an extra $200 over aftermarket, but I had to have the jeep in the corner and the grill above the rearview mirror.

We had ours replaced the other day for the first time in 2 1/2 years of owning our 2013. The safety inspection is due before the end of July and I know the crack would not pass.

It was $200 for an OEM replacement without the little Jeep climbing the wall or nearly twice that much with it. My wife decided that she did not need the little Jeep.

Where did you get it for 200$? Everywhere I checked around here it was over 300 and OEM was over 400$
