The PERFECT Phone Mount without Power Windows

I found an awesome phone mount for JK/U if you *DO NOT have power windows.

First get on of these:

SCOSCHE MagicMount- Magnetic Dash Mount for Mobile devices

Amazon.com: SCOSCHE MagicMount- Magnetic Dash Mount for Mobile devices - Car Mounts - Frustration-Free Packaging - Black: Cell Phones & Accessories

Then mount the unit upside down on top inside of the "cup insert" in the dash "hole" between the vents.

Place the thin magnet insert piece between your case and mobile device. Then it will attach at anny angle...with ZERO shaking because the "cup insert"

in mounted in the dash which has all of the shock absorbing goodness built in.

By mounting on top I can still store stuff on the inside. This thing is super strong.

Enjoy.

This may very well be better than the Koomus. How does the inside part of the mount stay?

It is super strong, made to hold on dash even on textured surfaces. The top of the cubby insert is smooth, so it is not going anywhere. Also it had good reviews for strength on amazon.

I was hesitant about adhesive, but the viewing angle is perfect. Does your Koomus vibrate attached to the vents?

Very nice solution!

I've got something similar for my galaxy note 2 and it doesn't budge a mm.

I used a block of wood that I wrapped a few layers over pvc tape around and shoved in the hole.

Screwed a ram mount ball onto the block.

This looks like a good option too! Anything that stops that annoying vibration from most of the mounts.

I would have been happier paying what you did. I ended up doing it this way so I could swap out the grip with a larger one for my 7 inch tablet.

I bought the same one for my galaxy note 2. There was too much shaking for a phone that size and occasionally it would pop out.

But I do like how the cd slot holders are placed.

I also bought the mountek ngroove, which had a far more solid grip than the satechi, but just couldn't ever get the phone to angle towards me enough.
I was always seeing the reflection of the rear window.
I tried a few different ways of modding it, but ending up trashing it when all was said and done.

Have you guys ever seen the new Mob armor ones?! You stick the magnet anywhere on your dash, its about the size of a quarter..then the phone holder magnetizes to it. You can even take the mount itself without the base, and stick it under the hood while youre working or watching a video on how to do change your air filter...if you need a video for that >_<

I bought one of these and stuck the mount on my air vent. I have the Iphone 5S and it doesn't move or vibrate. haven't had it off road yet thought.

Bought my magnetic mount off eBay for under $3. Came with suction cup base and metal disk to put in your phone case. I don't have the hole between the vents (08 JKUX), so I mounted mine to the top of the dash above the radio and it works with no issues.

To raise this from the dead...I just installed the magicmount in the same location in my JKU. I'll have to say it's pretty much a perfect solution for those of us without power windows. With that said, I do have a concern and that's the fact that the 'cup insert' in the dash is extremely easy to remove when the dash is hot...especially if you are topless and it's in direct sunlight. When attempting to pull my phone from the magnet mount I pulled out the entire cup once.

Has anyone found a good place to mount these in the JK that does have power windows? I like how these have a magnetic mount, but there are very few flat surfaces on the dash to mount the base on.

Power Window Option: I ordered the CoolTech VersaMount2 that is made to hold the walkie part of a CB. I put a magnet on it instead. Took 10 minutes to install and no holes to drill. It is angled towards the driver and holds really well.

I don't know. Once that magnet is on, it's really on there. I don't have a CB anyway.

OK. I was thinking of a Mic holder with another function maybe.

I have power windows so I had to mount mine in a different location. I mounted it on top of the dash so I could use my phone for navigation. It works pretty well.

I have Power windows and used to top of the dash...
Here is a Pic of mine over the dash above speed ometer...
The grip of the Magic mount is super sticky but not harmful, it rolls off if you pull it slowly and does not only apply once such as 3M tape...it helps with pourus surfaces and textured surfaces great...mine is rock solid...

Top left of pic...

I dont have another one handy

I use a RAP-B-369A with other RAM mounts so I can use the camera on my SG Note 4 to record while I'm driving.

I find window and A-pillar mounts to vibrate much less than anything connected to the instrument panel in any way.
