Tire sizes.

I'm trying to run 35's on rockstar rims but can't figure out how to look for 35 inch tires on websites such as discounttire/tirerack. Is there a way to read the inch through the standard tire size numbers?

Also a 2inch lift will allow 35's to fit on 18 inch rims correct?

Thanks.

The communist tire sizes are fairly easy to decipher. The three digit number is the width in millimeters, the next number is the sidewall height expressed as a percentage of the width, and the last number is the wheel diameter.

To get the width in inches, divide the first number by 25.4. To get the height, multiply the width times the second number and divide by 50 then add the rim size.

For a 255/75/17 you'll get 255/25.4=10. The height is 10x75/50+17=32.

If you just want a chart of sizes find a tire you like on tirerack and click specs. It will give you everything you need to know about all the sizes the tire is offered in.

You can also use this simple calculator to translate the sizes to inches.
