ttl for leased jeep in wa?

Hello - I'm planning on leasing a Wrangler in WA next year. I want to go ahead and start saving money for ttl + mods.

Can anyone here tell me approx what I should expect to pay for TTL on a leased Wrangler in WA?

Sales tax can vary. Usually around 8.5% Title fee $!50. Licensing, again by location. Around $65. On a $40K rig about $1600-$1800.

thanks bob - do you know if wa charges tax on the full price of leased vehicles or only on the projected depreciation amount of leased vehicles (the principle for which you are paying)?

Are you leasing for a personal vehicle or as a business write-off? Just curious, as I can't fathom why anyone would lease a Wrangler with the money factors being as horrible as they are unless it's a business write-off.

@zerin - I always lease my vehicles.

I've been leasing for the last 15 years.

At the end of my lease period (39 months) I always want a new vehicle....

Look at their resale value. It's amazing right now they are having a 0 down sign and drive deal. Online they advertise $370 a month for the wrangler and $400 a month for the unlimited. That's $14,000 for the jk over 38 months(first month free I guess with this deal) or $15200 for the unlimited. And you can only put 36k or whatever on it. Look up how much any 4 year old wrangler costs at any mileage. I guarantee its way more than $14000 below purchase price. Mine is now 5 years old and worth 5k less than purchase price and I have 50k on it. I'd buy it and trade it in whenever you want with however many miles you have on it. Guarantee you'll take less of a hit

I am very familiar with the concept of leasing but the money factor on Wranglers makes it a lease for suckers. There is absolutely no reason you should be leasing a Wrangler vs. Purchasing. The math makes absolutely zero sense. You would essentially be paying the equivalent of a 5-6% APR. The residuals are great, the money factors are TERRIBLE.

At the end of the day it's your money but I think you need to do the math on the lease here and see how it's a sucker's bet.

Excise or Use Tax Exemption
Washington state imposes an excise tax (commonly known as "sales" tax) on purchases and an equivalent use tax on leases. Under state law, the sales/use tax on the stated value of a trade-in is deducted from the tax that would be assessed on the total price or monthly lease payment of the new vehicle. Use tax on a lease is paid one month at a time on the amount of the monthly lease payment. Washington state provides for the sales tax exemption for a trade-in to be credited on the lease to the use tax on monthly payments. The lease contract should indicate in which months the use tax is excluded and when the payment will increase when the sales tax exemption is exhausted.

Leasing

Sales tax varies by county that you register your vehicle in, this will range from .070 to .95

Are you allowed to modify a leased vehicle?

Depends on your lease agreement. If you don't keep the stock parts and put it back to stock yourself, I'm pretty sure they aren't obligated to pay you for those parts, and most likely you can't remove them. Like you can't return the jeep with no bumpers or wheels

I leased Z-71's for years. New truck every 24 months. All mods stay on vehicle unless they can be removed/returned to factory without noticeable change.

I'd never lease a Wrangler... Not only on the money side, but you'll never be able to return it to turn in condition. And they may charge you to do exactly that.

I would never lease a vehicle. Don't like paying for things I won't own.
