Gravedig but I'm just going to go along with it...

I have a 2015 JKU Sport and I'm wondering the same thing.

The best/worst one is when I start navigation on my phone and my 730N isn't connected to my phone as a music player, so it starts playing the navigation prompts from my phone as incoming phone calls.

"In 300 feet turn left"
"PHONE CALL COMPLETED"
"Turn left"
"PHONE CALL COMPLETED"
"Continue on Main Street for 500 feet"
"PHONE CALL COMPLETED"
"Turn left onto 5th street"
"PHONE CALL COMPLETED"

And better yet, the default volume of the UConnect woman is at least twice as loud as the phone calls themselves.

There are some small advantages to using the 730N, but if I'm in the city and take the freeway the sirius traffic thing keeps insisting I get off the freeway IMMEDIATELY and take the highly congested streets.

I agree, I have the old one in my 2013 300. It's fantastic! Super easy to use, super fast and responsive, and you get to really appreciate the simple looking UI when you realize how little BS there is to it.

The only thing the 730N does better is reliably pair my phone when I turn my phone's bluetooth on (yeah, I turn it off sometimes). If I turn my phone's bluetooth on while in the Wrangler, the 730N immediately registers it as a handsfree device.

The Uconnect 8.4 in my 300 will recognize the phone.. at some point. I might need to actually restart the car first lol.

Need help turning mine back on. I have the u-connect with the upgraded alpine. Not the navigation. My old note 4 worked fine. Then I got my new note 4 and now nothing.

Glad you resurrected this old thread. MY 2012 730 is history and I now have a 2016 430. Need that annoying announcement to disappear.

Not possible as far as I've read

I recently switched from a Windows Phone to an iPhone 6s, and I have noticed that it takes my iPhone significantly longer to be able to pick up incoming calls through my 430. Looks like other people in thread complaining seem to be using iPhone's as well...

Try this:
press the Uconnect button and say "set up, incoming SMS announcement,"
You will be told that the announcement is on, "would you like to turn the announcement off"? I bet you know the answer here, don't you.
This worked!

thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Text message announcement: GONE

Incoming call announcement with caller name from contact list: still works fine.

I like the call notification, so I am happy.

Now, if I can find how to change where my dealer set it up with my name in his voice I would be really pleased.

And this works better than pressing once before the message starts? When I do that I get the whooolllleeee thing before the call connects.

I ask because I'd love to know your thoughts as to why the button press timing effects cutting the message off or not

I have this same problem. The system works well, but when I press the phone button, I still have to let it finish the "Incoming call, press uconnect button to answer". It's pretty annoying, as it delays answering the call until it completes the automated message.

I would give almost anything to get rid of the message.

I hate this sooooo much. What's more annoying is that FCA is in full DGAF mode. This has been a common gripe for years.

I am sorry to report that this worked for the first three text messages that came in after changing the setting. Then it reverted to the announcement message.
I am to busy to try it again until Friday. I will report back.

I do remember that. We had a lot of fun as kids changing the channel on the cordless phone trying to pick up the neighbors.

She said "off". If my phone is not listening it could be due to old tech. It's a Galaxy S5.

I stopped using the Bluetooth features, as I couldn't handle the extra loud "PHONE CALL COMPLETE" after each incomeing / outgoing text message. I now use my phone on speaker phone and let Cortana interact with me that way. I do miss the way UConnect would dull the stereo volume for texts, but I can do that manually myself.

Phoned UConnect / Chrysler tech support, and the woman sympathized with me, but ultimately couldn't offer any help. Asked they consider a fix for the next software patch.

Yeah...I have issues with my UConnect as well. It's SO SLOW. I want an abbreviated notification and pretty much everything process. To quote Chandler Bing - "GET THERE FASTER!!" Hearing my text message should not take two mins.

Rebooted the phone.
Announcement is still active.
It takes longer to shut off the announcement, with eyes off of the road, as it does to read the text.

I'm always fighting with that woman living in my stereo. By the end of my call attempt I've lost it and I'm literally cursing and yelling at a fake robot woman lol, half the time I just give up. This is how a typical call goes.

Me: Presses phone button
Uconnect: "John's iPhone . . . is ready"
Me: "Call Jeff"
Uconnect: "Misrecognition"
Me: "Call Jeff!"
Uconnect: . . . "Ready"
Me: CALL JEFF!!!
Uconnect: "Would you like to call . . . (4 seconds later) Jeff . . . at home, work or mobile?"
Me: "Mobile"
Uconnect: "Would you like to call . . . (4 seconds later) Jeff . . . at home, work or mobile?"
Me: "MOBILE!"
Uconnect: "Would you like to call . . . (4 seconds later) Jeff . . . at home, work or mobile?"
Me: "Holy f***ing SHIT!!! HOW MANY F***ING TIMES DO I HAVE TO SAY MOBILE!!!!"
Uconnect: "Thank you and goodbye"
Me: "WHAT?!! ARE YOU EFFING KIDDING ME? NOOOOO!!!!!!"

Meanwhile I get to Jeff's house in the time to it took to attempt a phone call, get out and talk to him in person.

a rare Windows Phone user, ok I think there is a way to lower that loud volume.

are you using the 730?

in the menu there is a feedback volume setting, I think the lowest it would go is 12 drop it to that, and give it a shot.

Also to get Cortana to place calls for you, hit VR and say Call Cortana, it's an extra step, but at least when you ask she will place the call vs when you ask the VR to call John, the VR ask if you want to call William.

VR is utterly useless, and yes people I did the tutorial training, and if Cortana can understand me, then it's a VR issue not how I'm talking.

I am also not a fan, seems like the more I use it the more I do not like it.

Takes so long after I answer the call for it to actually connect, no excuse for that

Also as other have stated she talks way to much

Yesterday my calls start getting dropped. After 30 second or so I get dumped from Bluetooth.... 20-30 sec later I reconnect.... Then disconnect and it keeps repeating. I reset my phone which didn't help.....

When I go with a aftermarket radio can the ucineect be disconnected?

I was just here to find the answer to this same question. Found this thread and posted above are these. I'll be trying these today to get that annoying long announcement off.

Now, when someone calls it will pop up on your screen but the system will not talk to you at all. You can answer the phone right away by hitting the phone button and the system will not care. Problem solved!

I just did this on my Town and Country with a 430 unit. I created an account just to post my success so others don't have to keep looking!

UCONNECT annoying "incoming call from"

"Incoming new message announcement on", "turn off?", "YES". Just turned mine off. Still finding things to change on my 130N.

Didn't work on way home tonight with my 2015 Willys.

I cannot find the settings to get my RHR 16' radio to get to this point. I think I have the 430N, not sure if that matters, but I need this off I'll poke around more
