Weird Jeep Buyer

Just got a brand new 11 JK white love it. I had a choice 11 or 12 but I chose 11. 11, 3.8l is going to discontinue and I always think jeep should run a simple traditional motor, I will pay the same price for a brand new CJ if my dealer has one. Am I weird?

No, you're not weird. I got your back, dude. Just don't open your eyes and look at the ark, or you'll end up dead like the rest of them!

I was planning on an '11 but liked what I read about the 50% hp boost on the 12s. After driving one of each I was sold on the 12s.

I'm already loving the mpg that I'm getting. And I'll love it more when summer hits and I have to drag my jet ski all over creation.

No, you're awesome! I too am a Jeep purist, but I have a TJ, and wouldn't buy any JK right now. But despite the fact that people are going for the more powerful engine, I think that if you want a fast car, don't get a Jeep. The Willys were horrible underpowered, but they were still awesome. So, no I def don't think you're weird.

I made the same call, and received some derision. I love my 11. Simple, proven, capable... hard not to love.

I'm sorry but I want my Jeep to be simple and uncomplicated. No computers! Well that and I can't afford anything older then a YJ! Lol I'll still keep my 88 YJ!

hell ya. I loved my Tj but if I ever get a trail jeep, it's going to be a Yj.

I remember thinking "omg this Tj is so much like a car"

I'm older now and do enjoy the creature comforts of my Jk but will admit it's getting to be to much.

Explains why more are buying them for DD.

I had one of these in the 101st and the 5th ID. I carried around 400 pounds of crew, at least 400 pounds of gear and electronics and about 400-500 pounds of crap in a trailer. All this being toted around in a vehicle that had 65hp and about 120tq.

I can remember getting stuck three times. Once I high-centered myself (damn M113s). Once driving in the middle of the desert in the pitch black night I found myself teetering over the edge of a tank ditch with the front wheels in mid-air. And once running from a tank I went to cross about a 20ft creek and found it was a 20ft wide stream

Man, I loved driving that thing.

I have a 2011 jku and have no qualms with the power. My jeep is mostly stock and for the life of me I cant find where people think it is underpowered. I take mine on the beach and have no problems towing a 5x8 trailer. If I want to go fast I'll drive the wifes 2011 camaro or my worked road king.

50% boost? Which engine did you order the 3.6 or 6.1?
