Where is everyone getting 33.5 OD?

315/70R17 is a 34.3'' OD X 12.4'' Wide
Rounded up to a 35'' Tire.

Wondering the same thing. Maybe they mean it's true measurement vice it's listed diameter? I have 35" Nitto Trail Grapplers, but the "as they sit" measurement on my Jeep is a little over 34".

The interior is bed lined and I hose it out. The tires are 35x12.50/15.They look larger than they are because of all the girly men running 20s that look soo thin.
And yes my waist is bigger than 35" I like food, I am a grandpa. I have earned the right to be pudgy. If there is a zombie apocalypse you skinny little fellas wont make it.The wife beaters came in handy on a 95 degree day. And those mandles as we all call them in our Jeep club are the best thing since sliced bread for Jeep rides.Only real men are manly enough to wear them. You can power wash them while you wash the Jeep and they are good as new.And if you take any of this stuff serious you have come to the wrong place.

Many tire companies label a tire 35" and it can be off by a few inches. Usually they are smaller by a bit. You cant just say a 35 is 33.5" tire.

@Tweak is correct. Often they are smaller by A BUNCH! I was throwing out a number tongue-in-cheek when I said 33.5. I kinda thought the sarcasm was clear with the rest of the post but am sorry if I confused anyone.

So then what the heck is a 33" inch tire?? (thoroughly confused as I'm looking to get 285/70/17's OR 285/75/17's).

285/70/17's are "33s"

285/75/17's are "34s"
