I prefer always hot so I can leave something charging if needed and I like the voltage showing, part of the reason I chose this particular charger. This way I now have both hot wired, one for USB and the other is your standard plug in style. I might change that one too, eventually.

Dropped my upper oil pan and cleaned it up, ready to start work on timing chain replacement tomorrow.

Not looking forward to it!

Loaded up for a trip across town to use a real garage! Tomorrow, I will be installing new ball joints, 8 control arms, geometry brackets, new coils and shocks, and a winch plate. No gravel garage tomorrow!

What did you do to your JK today?

Got bored and decided to remove the light tabs on my bull bar as I do not plan to use them. I think it looks much better but itís a small change. Ended up being a bit of work to cut and grind it off. Here are some before and after pics of the bars.

You can see the tabs in this pic.

Tabs that were removed.

After pics.

Finally finished adjusting my parking brake cable. Likely going to need to replace the shoes the next time this issue arises, from the looks of things when I pulled the rotors... but at least the e-brake grabs again (for now).

PS- what a lackluster arrangement!

What did you do to your JK today?

Just noticed my tires are over inflated. Had new tires put on and the shop put them at 42 psi. Didnít realize it until I noticed a stripe down the middle of the tire from the payment dust. It didnít go across the entire tread. Sucks too cause Iíve been driving like this for almost a month.

Will 1000 miles or less hurt the tread much? Hope not.

You can see a bit here in the pic.

Unless you drove 20K in a month shouldn't be a problem. You could actually use that road to do a poor man's chalk test to get the pressure dialed in.

Added 5 channel amp and sub.
Honestly, I started this last Saturday. Also, worked on it Sunday and maybe a little here and there through the week. Took waaaaay longer than it should.

Haven’t set gains or anything yet. Sounds pretty decent as is.

I would almost recommend you get someone else to replace your timing chain it needs doing, but highly likely theyíll mess it up.. brutal!

Hey BahamasJK. How many miles on your Jeep? What symptoms led you to conclude that your timing chain needed replacing?

Installed new heavy duty ball joints from Alloy USA, new control arms, Steinjager coil springs, Pro Comp shocks, AEV geometry correction brackets. Only got the front done yesterday. Took about 10 hours because of the Canadian rust set in everywhere.

A shade over 95k on miles.

I had a rattle/clatter between 1800-2500 rpm under load. Tried chasing down every other known culprit with no luck.

Had an upper oil pan gasket going out, so bought a new chain for when I did that (you have to drop the oil pan). With oil pan off I could reach up and had about Ĺ-ĺ ď slack on the chain, so figured it needed it.

Sorting oil and radiator flush today, then I can see if it starts. Will let you know!

I love my Firecracker Red '15 JK Rubicon but, if I could, I'd replace it with an identical '19 Firecracker Red JL Rubicon.

Good on ya! I hope you enjoy that new ride.
