It's supposed to pour rain here every day but Sunday.

Sunday I want to clean up the scraped and rusting bits on my rock sliders and paint over the rough spots. I also want to cut the ends off my rubi rails and get them ready to clear bigger tires.

So I'm picking little windows between the rainfall to try to get a leg up on things.

I just finished taking off the sliders and getting one rubi rail off before the rain started again. I'll try to get to the other one later.

She looks so naked now though!!!

I work at my County's DMV. When you get your title in the mail from the bank or credit union or what ever, bring it into your DMV and have them release the lien on it and print you a new clean title! Should only cost you about $7.20.

I installed a new Barnes Aluminum Tie rod, replaced the SteerSmarts steering stabilizer (crap in my opinion) with a new FOX stabilizer, balanced tires, had camber and drag link checked and an alignment done. Getting ready for Moab in 2 weeks.

Fixed my missing door hinge bushing. I had installed the TMR ones a few years back. They pop in and out nicely but that makes it easy to lose one if you aren't careful when removing doors, or maybe it just came out by itself last summer since I am always doorless from may-sept. Not sure when or where the bushing went but I think the lower right rear one has been missing since at least the fall. Grabbed the Kentrol ones off of Amazon and let's just say I have a few spares now.

One of mine stayed on the door this year, luckily I noticed right away. How do the Kentrol ones compare to the TMR's?

Took it on its first ride of the season with a buddy's green '07 Sahara:

Unfortunately the trails still had some spots with deep snow melting from below, and we kept getting stuck.

Just as we decided we had enough, my friend grenaded his front D30 so we had to do some trailside work, then I had to help him out as with no lockers he was a 1-wheel-driver...

Overall not a fun day but good recovery and repair practice.

What size tires are those he's running?

Did he actually damage the housing or just the axle? Stuff a new one in at home and good to go?

SST Pros 35/12.50 on 15" wheels

He found out earlier the U-joint was busted (it must have been damaged already) but we were going uphill at that time so no place to do anything; then he started to sink in snow and I saw him turn hard left and apply power, and that's when the shaft broke. No damage to the axle housing, we just took the driveshaft out, stuffed some rags in there and we were good to go. I gave him some gear oil I had in the Jeep just in case and we rode back home together.

The good news is that he's got a D44 at home ready to install so he'll be doing that soon. He's currently struggling on 35's with a front D30 and 3.21 gears (and a 3.8 engine.) I can't believe he made it to and from Ouray last summer with that setup! He did say his engine was overheating the whole time...

A few things:

Paid it off! Yay!
Got a matching tire mounted as my spare.
Hauled a 4x7 UHaul trailer around today while doing lots of landscaping and then picked up 15 bags of insulation for my basement.

I had the front tops off all day and am loving the JKini.

Ah!! That makes me feel better then. I'm putting 35's on this summer but have 3.73's and a Pentastar and will have 4.56's before winter.

Should be easier on the axles. Slower and more under control.

First test drive on the freeway after installing the front Adams 1310 shaft yesterday, pretty smooth sailing. There's a slight audible sort of bass hum up around 80, although I foolishly didn't do a control run before the swap to confirm whether or not that sound has always been there, could very well just be wind induced vibration of the hard top. I don't usually drive that fast, and if I do I've usually got the Alpine up to drown out the general wind noise. Anyways, I'm calling it a success. Next up is ripping out those stupid exhaust spacers.

Another of the little things that I hadn't gotten around to, mounted the axe. Need a couple of nuts and bolts to mount the fire extinguisher Drake mount there.
