Today was a simple maintenance mod. Delrin door hinge pin bushings.
On a good note I love how they upgraded the door harness plug so you don’t have the slide lock to fight with. A simple push in tab lock. Beauty..

Thanks... I had Black in the last rig and thought the sand color would work nice with the saddle leather interior this time.

Finally got around to installing the delrin door hinges. Using a flat head screwdriver to tap the lip of the OEM insert over then tap out the insert from the top. Worked like a charm. They wouldn’t budge from hitting from the bottom. Also some have used penetrating oil to help.

Just a bayonet (jig) saw with a fine metal blade. The instructions/template etc. in the kit are really well thought-out and make it pretty easy - there are also some good YouTube videos showing how to do it. I did have to enlarge the drill holes slightly to get the mounting holes to line up - don’t know if it was operator error or what, but it all works out as the vent’s flange “clamps” from underneath and conceals any messy cuts, etc. It allows for some slop in it’s design. Nice upgrade for $70....

When I did mine I used a 9mm deep well socket....it fits right up in the bottom of the hole and hammered it out...came right up....the new bushings are definitely nice ...

The kit I got from Quadratec had the punch tool to take the old bushings out. It also had a set of stainless pin extenders (put only one on one of the hinge pins of each door. I put them on the bottom pin of each door) to make putting the doors back on easier.

Yep the Keltron kit comes with the punch. Tapping the insert lip over with a screw driver worked great. The inserts were very corroded so tapping them out from the top allowed for more leverage when swinging the hammer. Mine all took excessive force when hammering. Took all but 15 min to do them all.

Finally installed my NX.Needed to wait for the sun to warm it this afternoon to finish the last of the zippers. It was in the 70's, but no direct light until then. Didn't draw blood from myself, however I did chip my screen protector on my phone so that counts.

This is how I had to do mine. 6 years of corrosion fought me the whole time.

I do not normally like stickers on my vehicles, but just had to add this one. So far, everyone who has seen it has thought that it was funny as all get out.

I have an automatic but am considering replacing the shifter knob with one from a manual simply for the fact that my dead pedal not actually depressing would really throw people off.......

Funny story about my son when he was getting his license....I had a cool little hatchback car with a manual...he was intimidated by it and stated he will just wait for us to buy him an automatic before he started driving....my reply was something like if that's how you feel then go ahead and cut your nuts off now and get it over with....lol...he finally gave in and now won't have anything to do with an auto....

Had it towed to my local mechanic. Changing the clutch slave cylinder myself didn't work, I'll let the pros do it - but not the stealership.

Yep. Forget your spouse, your kids, your house and your pets.

You have a new mistress, and she'll demand your undivided attention and all your money. She will not be denied.

Put it out to pasture

My 2007 JKU Sahara (rescue green) had lifters go. 125k miles.
Quoted over 2k to have it worked on..

While they were diagnosing, I wandered the lot and came across a 2015 JKU Sahara that was lifted, had really good 35s on it, and aftermarket bumpers. Only 35k miles on it and a spotless interior.

I got into rationalization mode...Always felt the 3.8 was anemic, especially since I tow an 18' fishing skiff around. Mileage was lousy. The paint was fading on the fenders; leaked oil like the Exxon Valdez and leaked rain like a sieve. Time to get while the getting was good!
