What is the purpose of the rack??

Just curious... why does it even have it?? does it put strain on the drive line??

Most vehicles designed to tow or carry some sort of load generally ride higher in the back.

Aerodynamics. They try to squeeze every mpg they can get given the type of vehicle. This is one reason that they like to use 3.21's and to an extent the air dam. Never heard of a negative impact on the drivetrain.
