Where do you put your EZ-Pass?

Went on a trip yesterday and had my EZ-Pass in the usual place by the rear view mirror just outside the Jeep grill logo on the windshield and it wouldn't read the toll sensor. I dropped it to the bottom of the windshield and it worked fine. I was wondering where you guys keep yours where it's still at the top of the windshield and works dependably.

Thanks!

It won't read for me unless it's on the bottom. I run it on my dash behind the little storage thing in the middle. Just velcroed it there.

Illinois requires a front license plate, so I asked for a front license plate transponder. They wouldn't give it to me at first because the Wrangler is not on their list for a license plate transponder. I talked them into giving me one when I said that I usually take my top off, and that the windshield transponder can easily be stolen.

The San Francisco bay area uses the older "plastic box" type transponders.

It fits perfectly between the windshield and the driver's side tweeter.

My transponder is in my center console and it works every time. I am sure once the battery weakens the tolls my not pick it up.

Hold mine up to the windshield just below and to the left of the Jeep logo as I pass through. Then it goes back into my Tuffy center console box where it stays till needed again.

My ez-pass is the newer rectangular style one which is about half the height of the previous style. I had problems with the old style until Ez-pass sent me the new one when I had another vehicle. I positioned it as low and as far to the right of the mirror as possible, while still being obscured from my view by the mirror.

Anyone able or try to paint or e-tape their white one black so it doesn't create a reflection in the windshield? Does or would it affect its operation?

If you have a soft top, try sliding it between the windshield frame and the soft top. I'm pretty sure that there's enough tension to hold it in place. And I'm betting that the toll sensors will pick it up.

Guess I know what I'm doing tomorrow. I knew that someone must have thought of that before.

I plasti dipped my EZ Pass and placed it as high up on the windshield as possible. Never had an issue except for the outbound toll on the Triboro Bridge. The toll is gate controlled, so an officer had to come over and wave it around. The bar code was painted over so the scanner would not work.

On one trip back, the pass was not read. The officer came over and was a total jerk. Demanded to see my license and registration and told me it was against the law to paint an EZ Pass. I politely peeled off the paint. He told me he could issue me a $135 ticket and 2 points on my license for painting an EZ Pass.

Not true - I called E-ZPass and they refuted the officer's claims and even sent me an email confirming that there is no penalty. The only thing they said was they could assess a fee of $15 if/when I return a painted pass because it is their property.

I repainted the pass and positioned it directly behind the rear view mirror and out of my line of vision. The funny part was if he really was trying to break stones, he could have "written me up" for no front license plate, lights mounted above the factory headlights and tires extending beyond the fenders. But he is a glorified toll collector - what does he know about the law.

I painted mine black and has it positioned vertically on the top of the passenger side windshield behind my Grabar. You can see the suction cups on the top left, works fine for me in that location.

I also painted mine black and positioned it to the left behind my rear view mirror with some industrial velcro. I've never had an issue with it registering at a toll booth.

Wow...I haven't seen those giant boxes in a grip! Our EZ Pass is just a little sticker that is placed on the windshield near the rear view mirror.
