Which JK would you choose

Hi all, currently have a ‘17 Colorado Z71 and I’m getting rid of it for a Jeep for more off road-ability.

Currently I’m looking at two different ones, which would you pick?

1: ‘13 White(I prefer white color) 4dr w/ warn winch and bumper(no bull bar), what look to be 33’s or 35’s, Fuel wheels, light bar up top, 80k miles, $28k

2: ‘11 Dark Green 4dr w/ winch and bull bar bumper, 35’s and aftermarket wheels can’t make out the type, Fox long travel suspension, warn synthetic winch, front grille piece that makes the headlights look squinty, 100k miles, $23k

Never mind the ‘11 sold, the ‘13 seems like a good deal so I’ll be joining the Jeep family soon after much exploration of Xterra titan swaps, Diesel Discovery swaps, and much more.

to the Forum..

Go with the 2013, better engine and auto transmission. I have a 2013, and it has been great!

Awesome thanks for the replies everyone. I like how much more active these forums are compared to the Chevy forums already. I’m excited to have a rig I can actually off road in

Welcome.

Engine is supposed to be better in the 13, but I'm replacing mine as I type. At 80k miles, check for any codes thrown and noise at start up.
Good luck and no whining now...

Good luck. I lean towards stock/unmodified Jeeps that I can 'screw-up' myself as opposed to letting someone else do it for me. I too have a '13 w/75k miles.

You are going to trade in a 2017 truck for for a used modified jeep?

How much are they asking for the Jeep?

All respect but 28,000 for a '13 with that mileage seems mighty high. Presumably you are getting cash back on your '17 Z71 to buy mods with hahaha! Good luck bro and welcome.

This ^. A stock Jeep is pretty capable on it's own. Once you decide how yo are going to use it, you can do your own modifications.

Neither.

Get a 2012+ unmolested. A stock JK is more capable than most people driving them. Modify after you find out what you REALLY need to upgrade, if anything.

Yeah, that's 500 more than I paid for my new JKU back in 2012.

Everyone saying not to get any of them and their overpriced. The cheaper one is priced right for the KBB certified pre owned value, there’s not a single other rubicon 4DR around that’s under $25500 within 400 miles of me. And most of them, if they don’t have higher mileage, their mileage is above 50k.

So the people telling me they got their JK non Rubicon, for a few thousand less, we’ll maybe take a second to think about why 🙂

Calm down new guy. If I am not mistaken, you started this thread and you asked the members. We simply were trying to advise based off the info you provided. That is what we do here.

If you have available cash spend as you wish. No skin off our backs.

And judging by your avatar congrats.

For that price, it better at least have a hard top and have been done by a reputable shop. There are 5 within 50 miles of philly now that are in the 23-25 range pending mods. Consider buying a stock one for 23K. The lift, wheels, bumper and winch are 5K and you can get exactly what you want.

If you are thinking to finance the jeep and are looking into buying with the mods so as to not pay out of pocket for the candy, find a dealer with an agreement with the local shop to have them do the work and build into overall financing. Bought and built my jeep that way and was much cheaper than Rocky Ridge edition. Saved 10K

It is a forum AND you asked for opinions. People also added their experience. It may not be the feedback you were looking for. I think most offered their honest opinion.

Your search may be accurate now, but give it a week or two and you will see 'new' ones pop up. I did this during my search and eventually landed a 13 JKU 10A w/75k for 25. Deals are out there you just have to search and wait.

This is all moot anyway, since your avatar indicates you selected the white one. Enjoy the Jeep.

Yeah my post was probably a little out of line but I was mainly just scared of buyers remorse 😄 I’d been looking for weeks, and the white ones near me seem to be extremely rare so I guess I could have jumped on this too fast, but I’m very happy with it.

Not as nice inside as my Colorado but it’s definitely cooler and will take me better places.

And thank you, I will enjoy it, and definitely already am 🙂

Weíve all been there. Another forum benefit is no one holds grudges.

Let the mods begin.

In your original post you didn't state what trim levels you were looking at. You also didn't mention if it was an automatic or manual transmission.

What are you actually looking for? Trim, transmission, doors,.....

I have a 12 JKUR with 68K. I drove it off the lot with 20miles and she has been the best truck ever, big fan of the 3.6L . Owning a JK has been life changing but right around 70-80k miles most of us have certain maintenance we have to do (some get lucky and go to 100k+). i.e Infamous oil cooler, spark plugs, cam shaft sensors, o2 sensors, differential maintenance, oils, back flush all things I have tackled over the past few months. These are things I would put on the top of my list and be prepared. Good news is most of these jobs can be tackled right in your driveway with help from this group and a little elbow grease. I would go with the 13 JKUR. Good luck shopping!
