Which shocks to mate with the RK 2.5 Flex Lift

I have a '13 JKU and looking at putting the Rock Krawler 2.5 Flex kit on it. What shocks would you suggest for this set up.

FYI - This is my daily driver and, as of right now, won't be seeing any "major" off-roading. Just light stuff. Looking for a good on road ride, but handle the off-road stuff as well.

I see that the Rancho 9000s and Bilstein 5100 seem to be popular.

Thanks for any input on this.

Rancho's, they are great on and off-road! I've no complaints with them

Bilstein 5100's are a good all-around shock. Hard to find anyone to complain about them, and they are cheap.

We do a LOT of the FOX shocks and the Bilstein 5100's. We have done the Rancho's too with good luck.

Personally, I have the FOX's on our 07 2dr and Bilstein 5100's (on the front for now) on the 2013 JKU.

I have a JK with a Rock Krawler suspension lift and went with the bilstein shocks. Honestly for the lighter jk they are a bit to stiff for me. I've heard they ride a lot better on a jku but I believe I'm eventually going to trade out for the ranchos.

Side note: Jason from krawl off road can u shoot me a pm. I tried messaging you but for some reason on my iPhone when I try to click on message it won't work.

I have the Blistens paired with the flex kit. I got my jeep in December and have put 15,000 miles on it with no complaints. Rides very close to stock.

If you decide to go the 9000 route, take advantage of the rebate.

How do you like your flex kit and how do the Bilsteins ride (stiff, medium, etc.)?

How does the flex kit handle on road for you?

Other then the height I didn't notice any diffrence in ride. I also started with a rubicon. It rides great at 80mph and great at 3mph going up a trail.

I've got 3.5" rk springs and bilstein 5100's on my jku and absolutely love it. I had cheaper shocks and springs before and this is a night and day difference.

I cannot speak about the others. But I do have fox shocks. There is a reason I have them on my jk, as well as both of my atv's. They are very well built and ride great.

Tough to say. I am a big fan of the Fox's. The JKU that has the Bilsteins, only has them in the front. In the rear is the Rock Krawler RRD's with Remote Res's. We do a ton of the 5100's though. I just like the Fox's due to they are aluminum and rebuildable and revalvable. Ride though, is pretty close on them. Price wise, your only talking about $35 more per shock.

IMHO, while they are both excellent quality shocks, the ride on the Fox and the bilsteins is too rough on the road for my taste. Keep in mind, I have an s2000 that is 1" off the ground on bilstein coilovers set to almost max, so I know what a rough ride is.

Everyone's perception of a rough ride is relative. To me my 95 yj with a cheap lift was a rough ride. Or the two months I had blown rear shocks riding on basically just rear springs while I decided which shock to run on my jku.

Point is everyone is different and for most bilstein/rancho/fox get good reviews from everyone and I don't think you'll be disappointed with either. I chose bilstein simply because the shop I ordered from uses them a lot with rk springs and they came highly recommended.
