Winch for Rubicon 10A/X/HR

Howdy,

I have a '15 JKUR HR coming in a few weeks and I have been putting together my wish list of mods. I think that I have mostly settled on my lift, tire carrier, wheels/tires, etc etc. but winches have me a bit stumped. It seems like every time I come across a thread with a 10A/X/HR and a winch it is the Warn Zeon. I am leaning in that direction along with a Maximus-3 setup with stinger, but I am curious what other winches people are running on this bumper. I imagine that not all winches fit easily.

Apologies if I have missed a previous thread on this. My searching came up short in this regard.

Thanks,

- Ryan

Might be a bit tough for a 8742 style of winch, but otherwise a properly sized winch for the Jeep should fit fine.
I have the 9.5cti mounted using a Maximus-3 plate. If you look closely at the picture you'll notice it is offset to the left. This matches the front bumper, and works no different than if it was centered. Maximus-3 provides a kit that will allow you to mount a standard offset winch (like the 9.5 cti, M8000, VR series, etc) to mount centered. That raises the cost and the amount of work a bit.
Hope this info helps you make a decision you are happy with.

Scott

Ah. From that angle it doesn't look like a stinger. Thanks.

I'm also waiting the arrival of my new rubicon hard rock. Was trying to find different bars to add to the existing bumper but I've only seen 3 of em so far and I'm not crazy about any of em. Was wondering if anyone knew or could recommend a site for different bars to add

Thanks, Scott.

One thing that I notice with the Zeon is that it is such a tight fit that it isn't really possible to put a cover on it. How is the 9.5 in that regard?

Thanks,

Ryan

I used the mopar plate with the 9.5 cti.

Putting a cover on depends on trimming if the plastic strip around the winch.

had to make a few slight modifications to the HR bumper since the winch mounts forward instead of down, but here is my HR with a Warn 8274 winch.

and this is the winch bracket that was built to mount to the frame of the Jeep and mount up the winch. serious thick plate and built like a rock.

There is room with the 9.5cti to install a cover. Would take a bit of "tucking", but pretty easy.
I have wire rope, and the Jeep is pretty much a garage queen, so I haven't put a cover on, but it's definitely a great idea.

Beautiful install. Looks like you squared up the opening, and opened it up to the front as well. Very clean!
That is an awesome winch. Great aftermarket support for it too, with different gear options, twin motors, etc.
My all time favorite Warn winch. First one I've seen mounted on a JK.

I'm running a Smitty built X2O synthetic, and it fits perfectly centered.

I really like the Maximus-3 accessories.

No worries. My wife said Jeeps look tougher without the cover.

Heck i know a guy with a syn rope that never uses a cover. His rope is fine, although white from use and it is 5 years old.

thanks Comanche! It definitely took some planning to design the bracket, have it fabbed, and figure out what needed to be cut on the stock bumper, but I really liked the stock bumper and wanted to keep it as stock as possible. It turned out great, I think. and with the thickness of the winch bracket and having it mounted to the frame - this thing is SOLID as a rock.
