Talking You know you're in love when....

You can't stop thinking about him...

You keep buying him gifts... (new cargo tray, spare tire cover, new wheels..)

All you can see is the color Red, Firecracker Red.

When others tell you he's not the best "fit" for you, and you laugh mischieviously...because they will never understand.

You can't wait for him to move in...and instead of offering him his own drawer, you give him the bigger garage....and then enlarge the door opening before he arrives...because he's too BIG to fit in otherwise...

You've waited far too long for his presence in your life.

I am picking him up this Friday!!!!
JKU Sport S in Firecracker Red!!!!

Fun!

I just ordered a few more goodies for it today. One letdown, though... I had the garage door "experts" come out to the house today. They were supposed to increase the height of my garage door opening...but alas, no luck today! The sales rep who had given me a quote and assured me that they could give me 2-3 more inches of clearance was WRONG! Boo hoo.

The technician came today, took a long look, then said, "I can't do this today. It's a much bigger job...I'll have the folks in the office give you a call after I discuss it with them." Jeep isn't going to be impressed with his chilly stay outdoors (I currently have about a 1/2 inch clearance for the JKU). Crossing my fingers that I hear good news soon!

You would be surprised the places your JKU can get into with just 1/2 inch of clearance to spare!

You could always air down to pull into the garage.

You could also install a pair of cinchdown winches (ATV size works fine for this).

In any case - enjoy your new boy toy!

Haha--thanks, I will!!

Are you suggesting a winch for this particular purpose to be funny or....could you be serious and I'm just so new to the whole modding concept that it seems extreme? Wouldn't I then have to get out of the car every time I want to "winch it down" to pull into the garage? Before the summer comes, I plan to learn whatever needs to be done to take it out all over the local beaches, but I'm still not sure whether I'm ready for rugged off-roading. I need to taste that first. Do I need a winch for beaching? Probably not, right?

Unfortunately, a lot of us falsely promise an extra 2-3 inches...

seriously though, if you have 1/2 clearance, then it will fit right? Or are you wanting the extra clearance so you can lift it?

I suggested the cinchdown winch to be funny - but only because I've seen people with very high lifted Jeeps mention it as a side benefit of having cinchdown winches. If you were to go that route, you would of course route the controls to buttons inside the Jeep so you don't have to get out to lower your ride height. Also a cinchdown winch doesn't help much for winching yourself out of a 'stuck' situation - as it's mounted in the wrong place to be helpful (of course someone will come along with a situation where one could be used...).

As for winch on the beach - to use a winch, you need to anchor to something. On any beach I've been on there aren't either rocks or trees to anchor to, so you would be down to another Jeep or land anchor (no, not a joke on newbies - there is such a thing). If I thought I was going to mostly do beach/sand/dunes - I'd get a Maxtrax or other sandladder before a winch.

Thanks for the Maxtrax suggestion--I'll add that to my list of spring/summer goodies.
Haha on the winching...

Hm, well then.

One reason is that I want a bit more clearance because my driveway is about an inch lower than the garage floor, so when I currently drive in, if a wee bit too fast, my Pilot jumps up a bit before smoothly proceeding forward. I suppose I can practice rock-crawling when I enter with the Jeep, and take it nice and slow. We shall see. Tomorrow is the BIG DAY!!!!!

I really want the Gobi Stealth rack (so I can throw my Laser and/or my son's Opti on top), but that rack equires an additional 6", which just isn't possible for my short garage and current door. I imagine I'll eventually find a rack I like that only takes a couple of inches, which is the other reason I was hoping to get more clearance in the door opening.

I'm not ready yet to consider lifting it...I suppose I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

All snuggled in.... That will be mine in a few days--looks like we're receiving another white "gift" over the next few days!

I'm taking mine to a boat-builders show on Cape Cod today for a glimpse of summer to come!

I wish I could see the second photo--internet connection is spotty this morning. I drive down to visit family on the Cape last night and I barely have a connection. I love the first pic!

Ha--Don't think that thought hasn't crossed my mind!

Actually, though, content here....Jeep will have to wait and see whether he gets a warm room. I love my kitchen, too! Now if I found just the right house in a coastal town, with just the right kitchen, and the perfect garage for Jeep and a couple little boats, reasonably priced.....house for sale!
