Yah I'm not too worried about trimming inside the console. The bazooka sub no specs are made public... very strange.

Any idea what the stock AMP puts out? I'm wondering if its so underpowered that putting in that kicker 6.75 that it won't even run lol...

All I can say is not to buy the $90 Quadratec sub. It sounds great for a few months, now it is already blown. And I'm a classic rock kinda guy... I don't abuse bass.

Thumbs up Sound Ordnance Powered Sub

I removed the inner "liner" of my 2005 console and put this in there. It had no previous sub installed and I got a new head unit as soon as I bought the Jeep in June. I already had the sub from a previous vehicle, so figured what the heck... Cut out the drivers side half the plastic "liner" of the console and rebuilt with fiberglass, the wiring was easy, drop it down and feed from the head unit under the gear shift housing and BOOM instant bass. Tied into an open fuse behind the glove box.

I did not take pics during "construction" but basically I removed the plastic liner from the console unit by drilling out the rivets. Then I dry fit the sub in the Jeep and put the console back over top and measured what space it needed. I then cut out the needed space from the plastic liner using a table saw with blade to the correct depth to cut the side of the liner and then ran it thru again to get the sides and front/back just to remove the remaining plastic.

So line went from this:

_________

To this:

Once that was done, I laid fiberglass sheet acrosse the new "hole" and began

Once the plastic liner was rebuilt I re-installed using screws and nuts instead of rivets. Wired in the sub and installed the console.

If I take it apart soon I will take pics. Here is looking down inside the console.

I just installed mine but can't get any sound. I wanted to make sure i have the correct wiring. Do the red and brown go to the positive and black and grey got to the negative? My amp may be bad.

I still wanted to use the console without losing stuff all the way to the bottom.

What is that? My console doesn't have a liner like that, but I do have the factory sub in mine. Is this out of a TJ? I have a small storage in the top and that's it. Maybe mine will not be as hard to get in there as yours.

An empty baby wipe box fits perfectly in there on top of the sub. I'm planning to make something that looks a little better, but it works like a champ for now.

Yes, it is a 2005 TJ "X" model. With the factory sub, you might be in better luck than me. Mine was a large open area all the way down to the bottom.

My kids are too old for diapers now so that would be a new purchase.

The Sound Ordnance powered sub i had just sits on its side on the floor of the jeep, hope you have the height needed for a solution. In my set up it is about 3.5" W x 13" L x 10" H.

Went to put an amp in my jeep to power the factory sub better and opened it up to find that the previous owner had put the Kicker Sub in the factory location....score! So I installed an old amp that I had lying around for a long time and viola! Sounds great and really fills out my system.

Can someone confirm how is the stock sub wired?

I am assuming its a 2ohm DVC sub that is wired in parallel for a 1ohm load? So I would be tieing the black to black wires, red to red.

And just tape off the other two?

Just ordered the Kicker CompRT 6.75 - excited to get this thing in. Most people noted there is no modification needed outside of new holes for mounting, will post install in the coming weeks when I'm back to my TJ.

Does anyone have pics / writeup of the Kicker install?

You still need to trim inside the console, I have that kicker just picked it up this past weekend.
