There is a trail that I want to go on but I dont know if the water is too deep. She is all stock by the way. I measured out how deep the water and its as highs as the very bottom of the drivers and passengers door. Will I be fine? Also is jeep wrangler tj stock go through deeper water than any other type of wrangler stock? Thans
how far do you have to go through it? ive taken my stock tj through some pretty deep holes. had it come over the hood the other day! i guess it just depends how long youre going to be in the hole.
Doesn't depend on how long you will be in the water. You could be in water for 1 second and suck water into the transmission and 2 diffs. What year jeep and what transmission? Start by making sure each remote vent hose on the diff (front and rear) and transmission are secured well and are mounted up higher than the level of water you plan on going through. If they aren't as high as the water, look at buying new hose and extending those.
What year do you have? The 32rh (97-02) has breathing holes right on top so its very prone to flooding which you really don't want. If you have the 42rle (03-06) the breather is higher up, and I honestly don't know how much higher they are.
When I go through water I hit it a little hard then slow down and keep the wave right infront of me. It provides a little pull and makes the water right infront a little lower by a couple inches. Also aren't the breathes purge valves so they're not 'supposed' to let water in. Also I've been through water up to the half doors but how I went through the water didn't really come over it just came through the drain holes.
according to the Jeep testing info in the 2002 brochure, they tested them through repeated fording through 20 inches of water. if the factory ok's 20 inches, i bet you could even go through a tad more under the right circumstances.
I have driven 1/2 a mile through water just 3" below the top of the hood. The wind would blow the wake in front of me over the hood and I would have to slow dawn again to let it get out in front of me again. I was in too deep to go back but it made it. No water in either diff. I go around that hole after a heavy rain.
What about the fan? On HMMWVs we unplug the fan when we ford so the fan isn't smacking the water. On my TJ it's belt driven, so not sure how that will affect things.
