It took me about 2-3 months to find mine last year. I found exactly what I wanted in AZ. I was about to call them up and make an offer when I looked one more time online and found the same exact model with low miles and no rust in NH. Called the NH place, asked for pictures, drove up there the same day and bought it. It's all about timing and luck.

I looked for years in NJ but never pulled trigger to buy anything until I found this bad boy.😍Will always need work, but for me I wanted something built with mods, limited rust, 6cyl, 5 spd, passed inspection and was safely drive-able.
Good luck

Don't be afraid of buying from a dealer. They sell mostly stock Jeeps because they can't be sure of the quality of the work that's been done to it by the previous owner. Expand your search to include the western and southern states. You may have to travel farther than you thought but what is more fun than traveling the country searching for a Jeep?

You might reconsider the Manual requirement. Having owned both that's my .02.

Manual sports cars : big thumbs up
Manual jeeps : meh.

Took me a few weeks haggling with a local dealership on my 06' X. Had decent milage and unmolested. 1 previous owner. Waited them out till I got the price right.
