Major bummer but fingers crossed for its safe return. Had a car stolen a few weeks ago and it turned up relatively unharmed a week later at a place less than a mile from my house. Don't despair and keep trying, you'll get 'er back!

FYI OP recovered his Jeep.
Apparently he was drunk the night before and parked in the wrong garage.

Just Kidding

Thanks for the update, and glad it was found!

Did they paint the rims?!

I don't think they OP happen to have taken a pic just a few minutes before it was stolen. Probably from a while back, and has since changed/painted the rims.

I bet you're right, WaltA, I was just surprised since I noted in the OP that it had been stolen from a parking garage, and the picture appears to have been taken in one as well.

I bet you've done it too--you're walking away, then you turn your head to look back, just for a moment. You think "damn, that's a sweet lookin Jeep!" So you snap a pic, just in case. I had heard about the Jeep "lookback", thought maybe this was an illustrated case

The red rims would be easy to spot. They could've hit them real quick to blend in more, idk.

I wonder if they cut the roof to get in? The windows don't look shattered, though the other side could be or the doors were left unlocked.

Really glad it was found. Not in the worst shape judging by the pic, could definitely be saved.

Soooooo much missing info. Thieves caught? Vehicle damage? etc. Why is the moderator doing the updates and not the OP?

Sorry! There has been a lot going on and I forgot. On Tuesday a Jeeper from a FB page I had posted on found it parked across from his house. He called the police and then gave me the address for it. I had the city tow it and then I picked it up on Wednesday. The only damage was done to the ignition as they broke my lock cylinder off, the wiper switch is cracked, and the lower shroud broken. They basically just politely unzipped my soft top, the rear window was rolled up neatly and in the passenger seat. They did get rid of my spare on the back but he put my plate in the front seat also. The picture in the garage is actually the spot I normally park in and I had taken it a few weeks prior. Rims were still red when it was stolen and they spray painted them black to try and hide. Also spray painted my red shocks and most of the brassy control arms too.

Police didn't try and look for the thief, I offered them pictures of the dude who stole it and they pretty much told me that unless I saw the actual Jeep somewhere I needed to just keep looking. Another KC resident has his plates taken the night after my Jeep was, (the parking garage viewed footage and it was Sunday around 6pm) and his security camera has photos of the guy running up and stealing the plate from his Jeep and mine is parked on the street right in front of it. I tried explaining this to them but they did not care. So no theif found. As for fixing the damage had planned on trying to find a junked tj or liberty wis the same steering column and just pull the parts off that, $600 for a brand new one.

A few pictures of the broken stuff. There was a bunch of trash bags full of yard debris, a pair of dirty Jordans, and a hammer left inside. Kept the hammer tossed everything else.

Hose the hammer down with sanitizer. In fact, I'd probably wipe every surface inside too. Who knows where the hands of those dirt bags might have been!

Last time thieves tried to break into my Jeep, they were thwarted by the locked stock glovebox. In return, they left the screwdriver they used to try to pry it open, PLUS a bonus roll of packing tape ANDDD a Bic lighter. Score!

As long as no one is trying to get any prints? If TV has taught me anything, that hammer could be a crucial clue

LOL!
True. But, since the Jeep was released to the owner... It would be safe to say PD was done processing everything.

One of the best security systems today is a manual transmission. Most thugs/ urban youth can’t drive ‘em.
Glad you got it back in “relatively” one piece.
