Possible Jeeps

I found a junk yard/salvage yard, & I think I might have found at least 2 jeeps in there.

I haven't physically gone in there yet. I intend to.

Looking at google, I see what appears to be 2 white jeeps. I'm not sure. Both, if they are jeeps, look like the hardtops are in good shape. Kinda hard to tell for sure, though. You zoom in, & it gets blurry.

Also, there's no way of knowing how old that google satellite photo is.

I have only perused the aerial photo for a few minutes and found these 2 possibles. There is still a lot more area to look at.

Once I get a look at the entire aerial shot, I will make a map of everything that looks like it might possibly be a jeep, & I'll check it out.

I'll keep you posted, as to what I find.

When were those photo's taken. Aerial photo's/space shots are not real time. Usually a few years old.

They probably are not there anymore.

Sparky,

Google Earth used to allow you to use a "time line" to see how much an area has changed. (In this case, maybe get an idea as to whether or not those hardtops are still there. This junk yard doesn't seem to be well known. They appear to be open for business, but in the last 5 months, I have never seen 1 customer there.)

I used Google Maps.
I wonder if Google Earth still has that feature available.

Seems easier to just call the junkyard and ask...or go there and look for yourself.

That might spoil the fun drive, only to find out they're Suzuki Samurai's. I drove 2.5 hours (each way) to buy a 02' auto with a d44. I told the guy I had cash and he said to come on out and I was the only one that called (first day craigslist post). I texted him when I was 10 minutes away and he said, "I just sold it." Needless to say I had to call him and voice my displeasure with him to allow me to drive over 2 hours. My GF was shocked that I didn't go to his house and beat his .

This. Phones are pretty easy to use and have a tendency to get someone on the other end who has answers.

This junk yard is not that far from my house. So if I get there, & I strike out, no biggie. I would just have a nice ride out & back.

Possible Jeeps "UPDATE"

Unfortunately, because of my work, I moved away from the area where I THOUGHT that there might be a hardtop (or two) sitting in a junkyard.

Today, looking at Google Earth, I realize that the photo has changed.

I can now see 2 hardtops that I did not see before.

One looks like it may possibly be for a LJ.

The other one is shorter. Maybe for a TJ or maybe an earlier jeep. It looks like it might have a sunroof in it. Really can't tell from the photo. That was as close as Google Earth would let me zoom in.

I am planning a trip to get back up there sometime soon. (I need to retrieve my stuff out of storage up there.)

I need to check it out to know, once and for all, what the deal is.

I’m on my iPad and I can zoom in even farther. It’s obvious the brown one is an old ups truck and the black one is a Tahoe. No such luck!!

I am not sure what you are looking at. Both of the 2 tops that I am looking at both appear to be black.

The arrows are just to help you look in the right area. The 2 objects that I am focusing in on are in the oval circles, right below each of the 2 arrows

I'm NOT saying for sure that these are indeed jeep tops.

I'm just saying that, from what I can tell from the imagery, they appear to really resemble jeep hardtops.

And, since I have no make a trip to that area anyway, I might as well stop in and take a look.

Ha!
I thought that I might have not placed the circles & arrows correctly.
I had to go back and look at the image again. 😁
