Radio

I want to replace the radio in my 98 tj. It has a aftermarket kenwood and I hate it. To complicated, 1 button does 50 things. I do need blutooth and would like didgital. Anything out there that doesnt require modifiying insert?

You probably have the same head unit that I do - it's awful from a usability standpoint.

Assuming it was installed properly, the head unit will have retaining clips you can bend to get the HU out of the mounting bracket.

Just order a single DIN HU from Crutchfield. It will come with a new mounting bracket and wiring harness for free. Will take about 5 minutes to install once you wire the harness.

I put this one in https://www.crutchfield.com/p_613KM3...c=01&archived=

I like it, easy to use, and the Bluetooth never loses connection. The range for the Bluetooth is kind of lacking , doesn't reach outside of the jeep, but anywhere inside the jeep it works perfect. Also it is Marine Rated, perfect if you enjoy doorless/topless life often.

Crutchfield is so legit. They will send everything needed to mount/wire it up. And they are super helpful if you have any questions. 100% would buy through them again.

I see there is a newer model available now, so I can't speak for that one.

I have this one in my TJ and had the same one in my XJ. Never had an issue. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_158N42...?tp=5684&avf=Y

Mine had pos in it when I got it, wiring all messed up and so forth. Tore it out and picked one of these up just to see since it was less than $20 and had bluetooth. Actually works good, bluetooth connects easily and stays connected no problem and I figured it someone wanted it worse than me have at it. It was $20. Also has USB port for ipod hook-up or phone charging. Threw some 5.5" & 6.5" Kicker speakers I had in garage and sounds pretty good, noo problem hearing it top off at highway speeds.
