1987 yj

Hey guys,

I recently purchased a 1987 YJ Wrangler with only 80,000 miles on it. So far I have only noticed the horn isn't working and the wiper blades seem like they are sticking and not operating properly. The wiper motor is making a sound, so not sure whats going on with it.

Any recommendations on the wipers and/or any other problems I should be looking for.

Thanks in advance.

Wiper mech is under the windshield. When mine acted up it just needed so tlc and adjustment. Fold the windshield for access. My horn problem was a broken spring washer? behind the steering wheel. Surprising you have the problem with just 80K miles. You sure it is not 180K?

The first project with the kids was getting the horn working. I fiddled with the steering wheel side, but mine ended up being the plug into the horn. We cleaned the connection up and now it's fine.

If you have a 2.5 there is a horn relay under the dash to the left of the fuse box. Just dangling or taped to something. Stock is white and rectangular. That was my horn problem. I don't know about on a 4.2 though.
