1989 YJ Automatic worth buying?

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone could offer any insight; looking to buy an older YJ or TJ and came across this.

Used 1989 Jeep Wrangler 4WD SUV in Farmingdale, NY near 11735 | 2J4FY29T7KJ140222 | Auto.com

Any opinions, good buy or no? Price too high?

Thanks!

Its not at too bad of a price, miles are low for the year.

If I were looking at it personally, I would go over it with a fine toothed comb, checking the frame and areas underneath for rust.

It has been repainted, and the paint job isn't all that great. but, its all 1 color.

The motor that is in it is a 4.2L, not the 4.0L that is stated. None of the 4.0L YJ's had a carb. They were all fuel injected.

My 88 has them. I've heard:

1. They are not well-liked due to a preference for actual rocker guards/rock sliders.

2. They are hard to find.

They require 10 huge holes to be drilled in the body to mount them. Per side. Best to leave them off.
