Has anyone heard of a 2.5L I6 that was installed in Jeeps in 1990?

The only 2.5l I6 engine I can think of is a Bmw M54. But 2.5L in a Jeep your really looking at a 4banger

In 1990 they were either a 2.5L 4 cylinder with TBI (throttle body injection) or 4.2L 6 cylinder with a carburetor. It's pretty easy to tell the difference if you count the spark plugs.

What was the last year for a carburetor in the YJ? A mechanic once told me that my 1988 was the last one. Was he right? thanks!

4.2L (carb) was used 87-90. The 2.5L was TBI at that time. In 1991 the 2.5L and 4.0L used manifold injection from there on until the TJ years, 2005 I believe they switched to the 2.4L.
