1993 Jeep front speakers replacement.

I need to replace front speakers in my '93 Renegade. I'm about to order Boston Acoustic 4X6. Can some one please tell me how to remove and replace them without taking the jeep apart...?

you can do it from underneath, it just takes some time. They should be a 9/23 nut on 4 studs.

YEPPER! just like big says. open the doors all the way and put your big green colman cooler next to the jeep for a seat and go for it.

After your forearms are hacked up from reaching up there, you might opt for pulling the dash panel bolts and nudging it back a foot, and get em out from above. It's really pretty quick and easy.

I took down the windshield today bc I was going to swap out my front speakers. I was only able to pull the dash back like 1/2" after taking all of the bolts out....weird.

Wait, before you dump a lot of money into speakers, take a look at Sony Xplod 4x6 speakers:

Walmart.com: Sony Xplod XS-R4644 4" x 6" 4-Way Speakers: Auto Electronics

I want to put those in my dash, but I have the 5.25" round Xplod speakers in mine. Can easily hear doing 75 down the freeway. That price is for 2 speakers, not one. It fooled me at first too..

Did the Sony Xplod 5.25s come with a grill? Thinking about putting some in my sound bar....but would need a grill.

dash speakers is a horrible and painful job.. i opted for the pods that go under the dash behind the shifter. much easier and fit 6"

When I bought mine the front two speakers were blown. I had the seats out and it still took forever to get them out working under the dash.

But... finally they came out and just went with a 6 speaker sound bar. In my opinion, a sound bar is plenty and a whole lot easier to install.

Yes, well at least a fancy decor cover. I don't think you would need a grill for a sound bar?

Probably not but I think it looks better and I never have a top on my jeep.

The Xplod's don't look half bad though without a grill.

Besides, aren't grills used for cooking burgers and brauts?

Just replaced my front speakers. Got polk's, a little more spendy, but they are marine rated, so moisture should not be a problem. Take apart the dash, it really is not that bad, but I would suggest being careful with the heater (no a/c in mine). The control cables are attached with plastic holders that after time and heat get brittle and are hard not to break. I was only able to get the last cable off w/out breaking the plastic retainer. I think you could leave the heater attached, and get enough room to pull back the dash enough. The rest is actiually very easy. I also found bad wiring issues in mine that I got to fix while the dash was off.
