2 questions. Shocks for spring over lift and what in the heck do these soft top snaps

OK I need to know what shocks to use for spring over conversion in the front. I stretched the rear 5" so that's going to be trial and error.
The snaps on the soft op over the door what is the part called that it snaps to? I only have rods that attach there and seems like I'm missing a part. I've found the slide in snaps on eBay but I can't find what the heck they slide in. Something attach to the rods? I do know I have a yj with the y style hardware. I also need the rail retainer that bolts to the left and right of tailgate about 4" wide. Anyone know where I can get these PCs without buying whole frame?

You'll need to measure the mounting points for compressed & extended lengths if you want to be accurate for what shocks to get. Plus, decide whether you want a low budget shock, something in the middle, or something tuned to your overall build & where you drive it.

Its called a door surround. But it sounds like to me that you are trying to put 2 different tops together?

I haven't seen snaps above the door of a YJ, last Jeep I had snaps on was a CJ7. I'm not saying that some of the top companies might make theirs this way, I have just never seen it in stock form.

I have an OEM frame and Bestop OEM style top and it snaps above the half door uppers. I looked for that channel/rail because a PO riveted the top to that rail instead of buying replacement snaps, and now it has holes in it. I could not find that piece sold by itself. Morris 4x4 or Quadratec sells the retainer pieces for the back if I remember right.

Yep that's the ones cyndib. I ordered some replacement snaps. Guess I will fan up something to go there. Do they attach to the rod that's hooked in the windshield frame?

I'll take some pics for you. The channel is a square U and the snaps attach to the inside so the edge so the top tucks inside the channel. There's a plastic piece that attaches to the inside of the side of windshield where the door upper closes against it. The rail has a little peg on one end that fits into that plastic piece and then there's a little gizmo that slides over the end of the peg to lock it in. You might be able to find some close up diagrams in a soft top installation .pdf, try looking at Bestop's website and downloading the installation instructions for an OEM top like the sailcloth top.

Sorry for the delay, here are the promised pics.
This is where the rail attaches to the windshield, there is a plastic piece that slides over the peg in the email to lock it in place

These are pics to try to give you an idea of the shape of the rail. It's higher in the rear than it is in the front
