87 Top recommendations

I have an 87 Wrangler and looking for a new top. Would love to get rid of my current frame and use something newer. Seems all the cool new frames are for newer jeeps and no one makes a cool new frame for older jeeps. Is there something out there?

Also anyone know why some sites dont have an 87 jeep but will have 86 and 88?

I was not aware of a cool new top. If you are happy with the factory half doors just get a Replace-A-Top. If you want full doors get a SuperTop. I like the factory top hardware better, to much Velcro on the Supertop and that stuff only lasts so long.

Yep only two choices.... supertop or factory style replacement...

If you want new fancy top designs you'll need a newer jeep

Welcome to the Forum 87redwrangler,

Have you considered a used hard top?

Good Luck, L.M.

We used to have Softtopper as an option, but Bestop purchased the company and is no longer offering them for YJ now.

Went with a half cab to reduce noise.
Later I added glass sliders which tightened it up further.
Didn't realize the top was seven years old till I pulled up this pic.
Dunk likes this.
