91 renegade owner

Bought my first ever Jeep a few weeks ago in the form of a 1991 Wrangler Renegade. So far it's been fun and I can see it turning into a labor of love. Have plenty to do to it regarding brake upgrades, clutch probably and need to replace the leaf spring bushings (they are all missing) and one leaf spring as it has a slight bend in the main spring. At 65,000 miles it runs very very well and so far has been a great little commuter for back and forth to work. First tank got me 18mpg, am guessing that's a tad low for a straight 6 and five speed so I'll run some injector cleaner in the next tank and put in some new plugs and things.

Anyone have a line on a set of stock springs that are in good shape?

Just wanted to stop in and say hello! I'm sure I'll have a bazillion questions.

Richard and Stephanie Junker.

18 is anything but low.... seems like I remember getting 15 once when mine was stock.... now I get giddy if I get high 12's

As for stock springs.... the newest ones are 23 years old now.... I highly suggest new springs

You need to replace all 4 springs if one is bent. You don't want one new spring and 3 saggy springs.
If you want stock height springs, try general spring in Kansas City.
If you want a lift, decide on the height you need based on the size tire you intend to use.
I favor Rubicon Express kits, but other posters have their favorites. What's best, Ford, Chevy of Dodge? Pick your poison.

New leaf springs will probably come with main eye bushings installed. You'll want to replace all the shackle bushings too.

Good Luck, L.M.

Thanks for the replies folks. Figure if I have to buy new springs I might as well buy some with a little lift. I find a couple things each day that need to get fixed, no worries though as I figured I'd get dirty a little with it before long. On the way home today the passengers side mirror flew off and shattered behind me. Closer inspection reveals it was held on with epoxy. *shrug* Time to source a replacement.

Take care all.
