93 YJ Wrangler Door Help

Thanks for all of the help in advance. I recently bought a 93 Wrangler for a project car. I am basically learning as I go to repair everything that needs it with the exception of the mechanics (I take it to my mechanic) by way of these forums, you tube and friends. I am currently trying to install the inside door handle as it currently cannot be opened from the inside, also it doesn't lock. This is the case for both driver and passenger sides. I have an idea of how it is supposed to work as I removed the panel from the door. It appears that there are two rods that connect the door handle to the mechanism that locks/opens the door. My problem is that of the 4 rods that I need, there is only one. I have searched to buy replacement parts but can't find them, probably because I don't know what they are called. Thanks again.

I suspect those parts may no longer be available, at least not from Morris and Quadratec.

This will help you identify ....

ROD, Locking Lever To Latch, ROD, Locking to Latch, ROD, Locking to Latch for Jeep Wrangler (1987 - 1995). #55075888

I know I had to source one of them some time ago .... was able to find the one I needed.

Every place I looked doesn't even show them as being available.

That seems to be the same problem that I am having. I found a couple of sites that sell door replacement parts but none of them have the rods. At this point I am considering replacing them with the element doors.

Just a thought ..... did you check inside the doors?

I know when I went into my issue, I was missing both rods .... but I found the OP and dropped one of them inside the door and it had wedged itself down into the lower area.

Denver Craigslist.
Click on car parts
Click on car parts by owner.
Enter YJ in the car parts by owner search box
There is a 2 day old ad for Jeep door parts. It looks like there is a latch with 3 rods on it.

Contact the seller, see if his parts will work for you. His doors appear to be full doors.
Do you have half or full doors? The rods may be different. Do you have a parts catalog?

Good Luck, L.M.

Can you fabricate/build the missing rod? I'm sure it's steel stock, cut it to length and weld brackets if needed.
