95 YJ New jeeper

New member here. I'm 16 and pretty mechanically skilled. Acquired a 95 Yj in March for my first car. It had about 93,000 on the clock at purchase now about 98,000. I plan on doing suspension and body lift, tires, 8.8 axle swap, lockers front and rear, etc, etc, etc. Basically making it into a mean crawling rig and daily driver. All of these will come as I get the funds for them. And I will be doing write ups for everything I do. But for now doing cheap mods is the way to go for me. I'm trying to teach myself everything I can about YJs and wheeling in general. But as for my real first cheap mod I went with plasti dipping my wheels black. I'll post a write up with pictures

Welcome but if you don't mind me asking what size motor if the 2.5 don't go to overboard with your mods its a good motor but not that powerful but its tough the 4.0 is more power and can handle a lot more weight added with some mods like tire bumper upgrades and so fourth.

As of right now it has the 2.5. But I forgot to mention in my previous post that it will eventually get a swap, I just havent decided between a 4.0 or a V8 yet. Anybody have any input on the difficulty between the two? Cost?

Been there myself looked into doing a swap trust me it's almost the same cost to buy one with the 4.0 already in. To do the swap everything under the hood has to be replaced the transmission the transfer case your motor mounts on the 2.5 are welded and will have to be cut to remove the old and do to bigger motor will have to be re-welded if you have a minimum of 3 to 4 grand to do it go for it is the same if you do the v8 in plus wiring harness.

The kid sounds up for it. How exciting! I remember when I was 16 and down for anything.
Keep us posted with your project and ask as many questions as you like. This forum is full of knowledgable people willing to help out. I really don't wheel much so my '95 YJ 2.5 is just fine to get around in. Would love to see a monster v8 in one of these and what it takes to get it done. Good Luck
