95's?

So I'm back, and think I've found a new Wrangler, I will be going to look at it on sunday.
it's a 95, looks like it's lifted, owner didn't specify it on the ad though. if everything checks out I should be able to offer him money for it there and then, but it wont be as much as he wants.
He wants 3500, KBB checks out at 2.7-3.4. my max I can go is 3K.
I'll let you know how it goes, but hopefully if it's good for a DD as he says it is, then sunday I will fully belong on these forums.

FYI KBB means nothing on a jeep(especially anything that is older than 01), post a pic or two and we can tell you what its worth

http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/3...0706172045.png only picture I have. a buddy of mine went to see it already but said he didn't want it as it had some chips and scratches on the side in the paint, so he referred me to it (idk whats wrong with him). but that doesn't bother me too much. he said he thinks the guy selling it took good care of it though.

bodylift is kinda scarey but besides that it looks nice. If it were mine I wouldn't take anything less than 5000 for it.....4 popper or not.

Looks like a shackle lift flattening the springs out.

I'd trade all my interior for a good spice interior.

I was thinking of removing the lift while I'm learning stick + I want to do a lot of the stuff like that on my own.

Best way to learn. When I do up my jeep. I will be doing most of the work myself.

Well, it sold last night, back to surfing Craigslist. And starting Monday I'm going to be carless, so this should be fun.

Yeah I was pretty bummer. Oh well.
If there's a problem with a synchro, is it possible to fix? Or would I be better with going for a new transmission? Found a 92 jeep the guy was using as a DD, 116k mi and the third gear "has a problem caused by the synchronizer"

just picked this up on Thursday for 3500. its a 95, runs like a champ, no leaks, pretty good shape. 3500 was my budget and for that kind of money I found alot of CRAP ! I am pretty stoked with my purchase. Heres a pic......

I may hate you.
just kidding, congrats.
I'm heading down for an hour drive tomorrow to look at the 91 with my mechanic friend. if it's just the third gear synchro I may as well pay the $2k for it and take it to somewhere like Aamco and have it fixed for like 500/600. (would attempt it myself, but this NEEDS to be my DD ) will update you all soon (If this one doesn't sell again before I can look at it -_-)

Good find sicyj, I'm in the same boat as you liamsengland in my search. Like most of these guys have stated, finding anything that nice under 4-5k is a great find and you have to jump on it quick.

Have you already gotten a quote for the transmission repair?

I was about to post about it. I went down to aamco and wasn't aware that they closed on saturdays @1. But online the live I keep seeing is 300-600. But I also saw one post that the yjs (atleast the 90+91) have the ax-15 tranny, and it had to be fully rebuilt for third gear synchros. Cost him $1800. Anyone have any more info on this?

Not quite sure. The seller mentioned.to me earlier that he knew of a complete tranny if I didn't want to mess with a synchro. And just spoke to my.mechanic friend and he's not thrilled about going an hour to look at something with a bad trans. So I think now its down to how much the other tranny he knows of will cost.

I'm with your mechanic on this one. If you had a good unit waiting to swap into it that would be one thing, but you are driving 50 miles to look at a machine that has a known bad transmission and who knows what else.

That's the point I'm at now. Of the trans is the right price, its worth going down. But if not I may be back to looking.

89' YJ. $3200 for reportedly no problems, with the doors shown + a set of full doors. (and sound bar --- didn't know people took the sound bar out and tried to throw it in as a "package deal") but what do you all think? if it's mechanically sound, good deal?

oh - Rebuilt jasper motor - 20k miles on it, 165k on the jeep itself.
new exhaust
"newer" brake master cylinder
New gas tank

opinions?
