I'm looking for a vent louver for my under-dash a/c unit in my 1994 YJ. The ones jc250 suggested are not the right size. Mine measures 1 1/4" by 4 1/2". Any ideas anyone?

You sure they're not these?
Jeep Air - YJ Small Rectangle Vent / Louver - Vents & Controls

Or these?
http://jeepair.com/vents-controls/cj...nt-louver.html

Stock AC had just those two sizes. The first one is the small one at each end. The second one is the size of the middle three vents.

Thanks for the reply, Dral97. I checked the jeepair site to see if theirs were the size of mine. They were not. Perhaps my YJ has an after market a/c. Don't know?

I replaced mine a few years ago, and if I remember correctly, I was able to snap the vents out of their housing and then they popped right in, so Pipe I'm wondering if you get your hands on the large at 4 3/4 by 1 1/2, pop out the black vents, they are probably then 4 1/2 by 1 1/4; this leaves 1/8" clearance on all sides ...

Just tried to look up the receipt from that purchase but I can't seem to find it.

Anyone else been through this?

All YJ a/c is aftermarket. It was a kit added at the factory or the dealer, but was all the same under dash components.
What are the dimensions you are getting on yours that you are comparing to the website?

Mine measures 4 1/2 by 1 1/4. Jeepair measures 4 3/4 by 1 1/5. I don't like buying something I can't use but it seems that I should buy at least one of the larger Jeepair vents to try. Like my son says, "It's only money and they print it every day". I will get one on order and report my findings. Thanks guys.

Well, measure the outside and inside first. Crap, I'll go out to the Jeep and measure mine right now. Be right back with measurements.

My ruler is all messed up and I couldn't really see much out there (it's dark already here). I'll try to remember to measure again in the AM, but the question is:

Are you measuring the OUTSIDE or the Vent Itself? Because the Vent Itself snaps into the outside "trim" piece that accepts it. I just had to replace the Vent Itself (x 3, in the middle) and not the trim around it, which is larger.

What are you measuring for your measurements?

I've got the vent popped out already. It measures overall 4 1/2 by 1 1/4. In any event, I ordered the larger one Jeepair has listed. It should be on its way by now. I will post the results after it is received. Thanks for all the help, Jeepsters. Please stay tuned for the results.

I ordered one from Jeepair also to replace a broken one. The one they sell comes with the outside housing. The a/c in my Jeep has the housing attached to the unit itself. Like sudsytimmy mentioned I think you can pull just the vent piece off their housing and just pop it into yours. I have not tried it yet but I will when I get a chance.

Mine was the small. I also think that it is measured from outside of the mounting tabs (the two indent tabs on either side) to the outside of the mounting tabs. And if that is the case my old and new are 3.75" tab to tab. But only 3 7/16" without including tabs. And it looks like to me on their website pictures it is showing backside of the vent.

Thanks to all for your guidance in finding the right vents for my 1994 YJ. I ordered one of the larger ones from Jeepair. It indeed came with the rectangular trim that surrounds the vent itself. As Jeer42 and sudsytimmy stated, the trim can be removed which will allow the vent to pop in. You must first cut a tiny piece of plastic at the mounting tabs of the vent to allow them to move before installing them. My whole problem was measuring the vent itself. Jeepair's measurements was for the trim as well. Oh well, a lesson learned. Thanks again for your help fellow Jeepsters.

Excellent! I don't know about you, but when I did this, I received the part, was really disappointed because I thought it was the wrong size, then realized it wasn't, popped it in, and felt great!

Plus, I'll bet your interior looks pretty fancy now with intact vents!!

Great job!

Hiiii
A/C vents as well as vent tabs I know very well. You can buy online everything can you tell what problem you facing with old vent?? It is broken or other issue why you want to change this . Because in case of broken the tab you can replace the tab whether the change whole vent.
