Advice on wreck estimate

Got spun around by a kid at a stop sign. He stopped by then looked down at his phone before pulling out and didn't see me until he hit me :O

Anyway ins adjustor came out and estimated the repairs at $1200-1300. I thought it would be more. He stated that the rocker panel just has to be replaced and painted but the floor's smashed in as well. The rim and tire are damaged too.

Anyone got some advice for me?

Always a good idea to get a second opinion. Take it to a trustworthy shop and get another estimate to make sure the adjuster didn't miss anything.

Did you specifically point those things out when he looked at the vehicle?

In the 2 insurance claims I've had in my life, I've pointed out items that were missed and was able to increase the claim. I talked with them over the phone first to reinforce the fact that I'm a nice guy (really, I am!), then said I will email them with the details and let them review before answering.

I recommend doing it politely, of course. You know, that whole thing about catching more flies with honey than vinegar thing. My neighbor always yells and uses 4-letter words when arguing points and wonders why he is so unlucky.

Viewing from my mobile phone, but just looked at the pictures. That wheel certainly needs to be replaced, can't see the damage to the floor on my phone screen.

Did the adjuster say the wheel wasn't impacted by the wreck? Cause it is obviously in bad shape.

Of course, if you get the $ to replace one new wheel, you know you're going to end up with a fancy new set of four, right??

I was at work when he did the estimate. The tire and rim are in the estimate as well as the alignment but my concern is having one new tire with 3 older tires. I'm gonna take it to a Jeep-specific shop. The pictures don't show it but where the "panel" is damaged it is pushed all the way in to where the seatbelt attaches to the floor.

I don't think dude's trying to get out of paying for repair, I just don't think he knows the body of a Jeep ?

I hear ya. Doing it right (or at least looking right) will end up costing you more to get all four wheels matching.

2 years ago, I had my kitchen burn up. Insurance paid out fully for the kind of kitchen we had, which was kinda cheap. When I rebuilt the kitchen, I had to put extra $ into the job to get the kind of kitchen I wanted. Unplanned expense, more than what I wanted, but at least insurance helped lessen the cost.

Sorry about your troubles as even a small accident causes many wrinkles in life. Best of luck.

Rim, Tire , I'd include an axleshaft and studs , wheel bearing cause you don't know how the impact affected them. For the tub get some rocksliders that go 6" up the tub (any that run to the door ). And hammer out the floor

If you add too much to the repair cost the adjuster will just write it off.
