ammo can question

Does anyone have a picture of a good way to mount an ammo can or good ideas? I want a cheap waterproof box but its hard to find a way to keep it stable.
I was thinking under the hood where the jack used to go, or behind the rear seat. I don't really need another center console but a cool picture would be nice.
Also I'm trying to keep them waterproof and removable so is rather not just drill them to the body. Any ideas would be awesome I'm at a loss.

How big are you looking for? I have seen First Aid Waterproof Surplus Boxes that would fit under the the tip forward front seats.

Pelican and Otterbox make water proof boxes but they aren't cheap.

The fenders next to the rear seat are nice and flat, it shouldn't be to hard to mount one there somehow. I know you said you didn't want to drill into the body so it would be removeable, but you could run a bar over the top of it that bolts to the fender kind of like how a battery is held down.

Bungie cords, the rubber ones can be your friends when you don't want to bolt something down.

i mounted two under the hood. one is on top of the AC mount, and the other is where the original air box mounted. sorry no pics but they work out great. one keeps my jumper cables and a snatch strap. the other keeps bungees and tie downs.

Industrial Velcro-White or Black

The 30 Cal. Ammo Can should fit on top of the wheel wells and open so that you have access from the rear of the vehicle. To mount this you could definately use industrial strength velcro. It is normally used in the automotive world to hold on body side moldings, and interior trim. It comes with adhesive on one side of each strip but this is the weakest link in the system. I always use gorilla glue to bond the strips to the mounting surface and to the part I am attaching. Then once the strips are bonded on you just press your part in place. You will be surprised how well this holds. Make sure to use the industrial strength velcro not just the normal kind. I am planning to do this myself soon.

I have a 30mm ammo can just sitting behind the back seat next to my 12" sub box ,I keep basic tools and a supply of fuses and bulbs in there ,doesnt rattle or anything. The bad part is it is not a hinged top it is the lift off top ,but I will eventually change that .

My ammo can was a lift top till I modified it in this manner. I brazed the one latch into place, flattened the 90 angle, got a lock from the hardware store that is supposed to be for a desk.Painted it black and installed it as a counsole.Has plenty of room for whatever I need.

Put ammo in them? I'm a raft guide and we call the tall ones grovers, for a not so fun reason.

I also really like the ac idea since mine doesn't have ac I already have an empty bracket space. And the battery like tie down is nice too thanks for the good ideas.

Posted this another ammo can thread. Used rubber spacers to keep them off the deck for shock absorption and reduce the chance of getting wet if/when water gets in the bed.

Hmmm.... an ammo can would make a great tool box. I have lots of ammo cans, but the only problem, they are all full. Guess I'll have to go buy another one or two.
