Just wondering if anyone has made their own bikini or brief top for their Jeep also need any tips you might have that do not include just buying one. Thanks a ton guys and gals.
never tried making one myself..but if I did, I'd do it like SpiderWebShade does it and just use grommets around the perimeter of my chosen top material, then I'd use the sections of bungie cord to hold it to the roll bars
Made a bikini before, Not that difficult, just takes some time.
I used an old sheet to work out the design and pattern, then made the bikini from a new looking tonneau cover that blew off a truck in front of me one day.
Not sure where to buy the same material as the cover I used.
Well yes but I suggested rolling it up in it.... we're on the same page... after thinking more I'd suggest some contact cement rolled in as well.... should be about bombproof
Yep, I agree the same page both ways work well, I just prefer hiding the screws.
I like the idea of contact cement, another thing I have used is seam tape for carpet, that stuff doesn't give up.
I was thinking about attaching the strip in the fabric somehow (contact cement or sewing it) then screwing the whole thing to my windshield frame. Then using some 550 cord to tie the back down.
I have the spiderweb top. It doesn't use the WS channel, it uses the bungie loops with ball through the grommets. The footman loop above the rear view mirror uses a short one, the rest just go around the roll bar. I did notice in yesterdays mail that Quadratec Shademaker mesh bimini on sale for $35.99, it uses strap and buckle attachments.
