Anybody use an alarm?

I'm just looking around for an inexpensive alarm system that uses door sensors (driver/passenger and tailgate). No locks anyways, so it's basically an open invitation for someone to just waltz right into the Jeep and try to remove my stereo which is basically the only valuable item I keep in there.

Would just be nice to have an alarm though, so I don't have to park at store fronts every single time...

Having spent the better part of 8 years installing g alarms I've always been a fan of DEI products. Although Omega is pretty good. I personally use a python 700 with a cheap hornet remote start installed in conjunction. I wouldn't bother installing anything without a backup battery and a prox censor since, like you said it's an open invitation for people to hop in. Also a mag or pin switch for the rear gate. DEI used to sell their Rattler DIY for us who like to get it done on our own. Hope it helps. Jeeps are almost the worst cars to install because of lack of room but i think the least protected. Good luck.

On my CJ7 I had a motion alarm..not sure of the brand but that definitely kept the thieves out. I could adjust the sensor to where if someone just reaches in it would go off, or once someone was in and made a lot of movement it would go off. The only thing with having the sensitivity on high was even if a leaf blown in the darn thing would go off.

I'm definitely thinking of putting a motion sensor on my YJ.

I don't think I'll have a problem with being able to fit an alarm inside of it, or conceal it. I am just looking for a simple system that has all of the necessary items needed to protect it. This one caught my attention after searching for a bit:

Crime Guard CG-250i6 "Self-Contained" Car Alarm Security System

Looks about like what I am after. Price sure is right too...

my 88 Camaro had a badass alarm, dont remember who made it, and I had it installed, but I could park behind the bar with the windows down and t-tops off and not worry. If anyone reached in it would scream, but a leaf wouldn't set it off.

Proximity alarm with all the bells and whistles, this was before remote start and I dont think id want that anyways.
