AX-5 wanted!

I need an AX-5. my fifth gear snap ring broke a while back and i replaced it but when it broke fifth gear chewed up the shaft it goes on and today while driving the snapring broke or fell off again because the shaft was so ate up it would barley hold the sanp ring on so i think itd be easier and less of a headache to just put a different trans in it, so if you know where i can get an AX-5 i would be very thankful, my yj is my d/d

Ax5

I did quite a bit of research trying to find my own AX-5. This is the best price I could find for a rebuild and they seem like a pretty professional company. I should get mine in the next couple of day. Already have the old one pulled. I'll keep you posted.

Ax-5

I bought an AX-5 from the same place as WhyJ not too long ago. Transmision has worked fine since I installed it. If you are sending them a core, make sure you follow up to get your credit. They had forgotten to give me my credit but took care of it immediately after phone call.

Ax-5

Total cost was about $900 (after I got my core credit). They gave me a break on the shipping by using a business address instead of residential.

hmm that isnt bad, that will prob be the route im going to take. i appreciate the input, but do you know if a tj ax-5 will work in my yj? the old man wrecked the jeep and is parting it out, i know the trans is still good and he only wants 300, if it wont work im going to order from where yall did because that seems to be the best and cheapest way, but if you know if the tj will fit i would appreciate your thoughts on that too

I'm not convinced it would be a direct swap but I have no direct experience with a TJ. Hopefully someone else will chime in that can help.

I'm not sure about the TJ. This is my first experience with a Jeep and a transmission.

I got transmission in today (Tuesday) and I just ordered it last Friday. Quick shipping, but we'll see how the install works.

Good to know about checking on the core credit - I'll definitely keep up with that.

My price was $745 plus a $200 core charge plus $150 shipping for both ways. Just ask them to work with you on the shipping and they'll drop their price.

Good luck.
