There isn't anything wrong with the gear oil that you have chosen. It will work fine in your trans.

I have Royal Purple synthetic in mine and found out that it shifts smoother and runs much cooler with the synthetic than the standard gear oil.

Valvoline has been producing superior lubricants for a number of years. I run a multitude of there products in my other vehicles.

isnt that a GL- 5 Fluid? which is bad for our brass synchros. i may be reading the bottle wrong but doesn't it state for non synchronized manual trannys?

You are correct. That is why I had to order Amsoil. It was the only full-synthetic 85W90 GL-4 that I could get locally. I really think that the Pennzoil Synchromesh would work fine too - it's designed for brass synchronizers.

I used Wolf's Head 10w-30 motor oil in my ax-5. Apparently that is the new spec (I saw it on the internet, it must be true). Works fine so far, and if it explodes on me, I'll replace it. BTW, trans. is a real PITA to fill!

to go back to the original thread topic and to help the op, i would personally not run that in my transmission, i dont trust the GL-5 markings plus it has the limited slip additive for diffs. just doesnt seem like the right stuff.

i have one of those hand pumps that screws onto the bottles and it makes it super easy. just go in from the side of the tranny at the fill plug and use the pump.
