AX5 Rebuild Instructions/Steps/Manual

Can anyone link me to a good resource for a AX5 rebuild thread or instructions?

Thanks

I'd suggest buying a reman. They can be had for, idk, like $900. Cheap for a tranny. New is like 1500 or so.

The rebuild kits alone are 180 I think.

I only say that because that $700 or so you'd save by doing it yourself...isn't worth. I get homicidal. I've rebuilt a few auto, and each one has been a headache. The best is when u get it all done and test it...it still is screwed up lol

AX5's are manual though. I never rebuilt one....it's probably still a f'ing nightmare

If you end up doing a remanufactured look into an ax15 swap instead. The ax15 is a much more stout transmission.

Except this is a lot more work. It's doable, but requires a new clutch, bellhousing, and a few other things. It isn't as simple as a bolt in swap.

I've never rebuilt a transmission before and wanted to see if I could do it really...also its a 2.4 and its pretty much stock and I don't plan on doing much else to it, so I think the AX5 will be fine. It would be nice to have something to work off of when I do it though. I've already got it apart and I need to buy my new parts.

The shop manual has the info you need. You can snag one off of eBay, but they can be expensive. I bought a hardcopy manual, but ended up buying one on digits as it was easier to handle and find information in. If I had a tranny apart I'd certainly want a manual in order to put it back together properly.
