Before I i stall OME lift

does it make sense to paint the leafs? I assume the flat black thats on them wont last long, and I should undercoat them or something?

No undercoating.
It will gum them up and not flex right.

A good coat of semi-gloss/satin black rust-tough krylon would help, though.

Even if you were to some some kind of super tough epoxy paint. you would still need to take the leafs apart strip the factory paint then paint them and its not worth it. When they start to turn brown just hit them with some spray paint it's all you can do. Save the POR15 for your frame and floorboards.

and yeah don't spray them with undercoating.

Bedliner.....I keep a gallon at home and 2 spray cans in the back....I literally did my Whole jeep....nice base coat and it works great......on anything metal...and some things plastic...lol... takes 8-9..spray .cans roughly I did it with tht in a couple hrs...I'm a commercial and residential painter...so I have a few sprayers tht are cannabolized I'm gonna spray it through my Titan 440 electric sprayer with course filters in the line and gun ...I only got one solid layer on it though with the cans and it covers well but a wider tip would cover thicker and faster ....I'll let you know how the journey goes....Iol...I'm pretty pretty sure tht it's gonna be messy as hell....but I figure if I get it done quick enough on each pass...with 10 min maybe....in between it will get to time to set up...the stuff I got set quick..but the gallon is oil based and ive sprayed metal with thicker products ...sorry for the ramble ultimately I don't know how easy it will clean but with 2 or more coats I say it's good...avoid using a rag during cleaning till the last coat sets for as long as you can wait...I avoided trail and got reminded of what dust Devils do to fresh paint....if it gets dirty while its setting your screwed...it's gonna happen to someone someday you'll see what I'm saying...I live in the country......lol...shit happens..I've painted a lot of things and once it's on .....functionality trumps a lot for me ...I bang around all the time and it's like having an armour coated candy shell but my jeep is the skittle...now I'm do ne...lol..i did mine for durability it'll take a beating...and it looks cool...all you gotta do is take the leap...I'm spraying everything now...lmao...trailers equipment...trucks ...grills..lol

Hey Spizz I think he was talking to me not you. Good thing my nuts dropped many years ago. Yu kow......" what's your name" scrappy I guess, I was simply kidding by the simple fact that the op was simply asking if he should beeline his leaf springs or rattle can some extra paint on them and you went off on some tangent about spraying the whole GD thing. I simply found it amusing was all. The next time you feel the need to start cussing and calling people names maybe you should remember where you are. This is WF not twitter and facebook. Maybe insults would be more useful on those sights. Have a nice day bro

Yeah it really won't last long depending what you do with the Jeep. Your best bet is to pressure wash it every few months and hit it with a rattle can of regular old spray paint. The reason you don't want to add anything like undercoating or bedliner is it actually holds structure. Spray paint paper and it doesn't get too stiff. Undercoat or bedline paper and it's much stronger.

Just watched a Line-X video where they coated an egg and dropped it a couple stories... No break. Your leafs will be stiffer than your spine after riding in that thing.

You do you though, it's your Jeep so your call.
