Big Tires Discontinued ?

Called Costco today to ask about replacing my tires on the Jeep. My tires measure 33x 12.50R 15LT. I was informed by the salesperson that many manufacturers are discontinuing the big size tires. Have you guys heard anything like this. He also added that most trucks these days don't fit the big tires. WTF? My tires are what makes my Jeep stand out. You can't do no 4 wheeling in standard size tires. Please let me hear your comments. If it is true, where else can I continue to get oversize tires for years to come?

i think they are messing with you man. maybe they are cutting back on making a 15" larger size tire but i know they make them still and tons in 16" too.

15" rims are becoming a thing of the past it seems. They are still available all over the place, I would suggest widening your search beyond costco. Who buys tires at costco besides yuppies in Tahoes and Land Rovers anyways?(just kidding)

All of the manufacturers are getting away from making 15" tires. There are still some around, but there are fewer and fewer brands releasing tires for 15" rims.

Also, Costco gets tires based on a buying contract and previous sales. If there weren't many people requesting that tire size, they will stop purchasing them from the manufacturer. Since Costco purchases in bulk to get the pricing down, they won't order the tire if it is not one of the sizes/models that they deemed profitable to sell.

My suggestion is to start looking elsewhere for tires and think about upping your rim size to the 17". Just about every suv/truck comes with 17s standard. You aren't going to be able to find tires that fit a 15" rim from the big box/warehouse stores anymore. Soon, they are going to be crazy difficult to find and probably crazy expensive. I have 15" wheels on my YJ and 16" wheels on my JK. I know how much of a pain in the ass it is.

IMO, Still plenty of choices for the common over sized DD/WW tire for a 15in wheel. If companies are starting to pull away from the 15in wheel it must be awful slow. And I'll bet I missed a tire or two

I went through this with my Miata a few years ago. Came from the factory with 14 inch wheels. Of course, no one makes 14 inch tires anymore. I had to upgrade to 16 inch wheels to get a tire selection worth a damn. I see the same thing happening lately with Jeep wheels/tires too... to the point that I'm about to bump up to 16 inch wheels before getting new tires as the price point is about the same.
