Roll bars. 87-91 had the sport bars (slants in back). 92-95 had full cages or family bars.

ok..thanks...but wouldn't the same bikini fit either ?? my main reason for asking is,I just got an 89 yj for my wife and she wants a bikini top..okay,here is what has me wondering..the roll bar in her 89 has been modified..the back bar that went at a slant has been cut out..then a bar was welded in on each side going straight back..this bar is welded to the top of the u shaped bar similar to the way the 92-95 is and then at the back is welded to another u shaped bar like the front one...it looks ok and fits fine within the hard top....so,which bikini top do I need or would either work ??

Almost positive you want to stick with the one for your model year. Especially if he did not modify the front half of the bars. Call and ask the manufacturer.

I actually have a bikini made for a family bar on my Jeep, with sport bar. Fits on fine.

No, they fit differently. I have a 93 and my son has a 90. The straps to secure it fit different. It will work, it just isn't as snug.

They fit on fine. Bit flappier in the wind, but I have my soft upper windows in place and it doesn't flap at all.

Actually now that I think about it, my original strap bikini flapped this much...
