Changing my front speakers

If anyone has ever tried doing this on their yj they know how I'm possible it is. So after a few hours of squeezing my fingers behind the dash to take the nuts off I decided that I wasn't gonna do the same thing to put the new speakers in.

So using a wrench I snapped the threaded studs off and drilled my own holes through the front of the dash. Using the hard ware that came with the speakers it only took 15 to install the new ones

Should have left the factory cloth there that makes it so you can see the speaker. It helps out when offroading keeping debri away from the speaker saved my speaker from a big glob of wet mud.

If you don't mind seeing the screw heads... that works! Good Job! My patience lasted a little longer than yours when I replaced mine. You are right, it IS a very difficult task to get to those speakers!

Also, is that your speaker wires? Just curious why you didn't run them under instead of thru the speaker grille... they'd be out of sight...

So how do they sound? Got a sound bar yet?

I didn't know there was a screen it wasn't there when I bought the jeep and the speakers that were in there were trashed. I wanna figure out a way to protect them better.

The wire u see there is from the kc lights on The wind shield. Something the old owner did. I don't like how it looks but taking apart the dash is a big job. So I'll get to it at some point.

I do have a sound bar. So with the sound bar and the dashboard speakers the volume is good. I'd really like to get some more base but can't put in subs since she get wet all the time.

I'll take a picture of the back of the screws, tomorrow when I have day light.

Hey Rob, you could just cut those light wires, run them where you want and then just splice them back together...

Mine has never had any kind of "factory cloth" either? Yours does YJKid?

Yea mine does but no one messed with my jeep it had 2 owners before me the guy before me and his brother and the only thing they ever did to it was 30 inch MT tires. If you want ill see if i can get a picture of it tomorrow when theres daylight. I was going to take it out but after it saved my speaker I'm leaving it in there.
