15X8 wheels

That should work just fine. Just make sure that your back spacing on the wheel is enough to make turns without rubbing anything. You don't want the back spacing to much more than 3.75". In other words, the distance from the edge of the rim, to the back side of your bolt pattern on the wheel. The 8" rims will also let you air down your tire more than a 10" rim, the only down side to the 8" rim, is uneven tire wear on the street. It will not allow the tire to sit flat to the road surface. You will need to adjust your tire pressure to get the best wear. It probably won't be more than 20 - 25 lbs. Goodluck, and show us the wheels on here when you get them mounted.

As long as you can turn to stop in either direction, without causing any rubbing, you should be fine. If your not sure, let them install the front to wheels, and tires, turn your steering to both stops, and check your clearance. It may not be as critical with the 8" rims.

yeah my question was however if by them saying 4 inches that the wheels will stick out further sitting pointing straight, or less. my understanding is that the larger the number the further the out the wheels will stick.

I misunderstood your question. The less back spacing you have, the more that will stick out past your fendors. If you have a 8" rim with a 4" backspace, you are dead on in the middle of the rim, where it bolts to your axle. If your rim had a 3.5" back space, you would have 4.5" past the axle hub, which would stick out further. Am I making any sence?

The less back spacing you have, the wider your wheel stance.
