Diy foot pegs

So I got bored today and decided I was sick and tired of propping my foot on the door opening when I ride around with the doors off so I decided to make my own out of paracord so this is what I came up with. They are just 2 d clamps that I found at my local tsc. Turns out the threaded shank is the exact same size as the door peg insert "thingys"

I took my bolt cutters and cut one side of the threaded rod off.

Then I started doing a cobra knot on the smooth shank, once I got to the end I went back the other way and ended up with a king cobra knot (I won't get into how to do the king cobra knot for there are many instructionals on Google to teach anyone) I chose this knot over several others because I wanted it more flat like others I have seen for sale made out of metal.

Tip: the more time you go back and forth with your cobra knot the larger and flatter it will become

Once I finished the king cobra knot I finished it by cutting the excess paracord off and melting the ends to itself on the back side.

So in the end you have yourself A very simple and cheap set of foot pegs for your wrangler.

Total cost for everything was about 15 bux between the clamps and paracord. Time invested was about a half hour

If anyone likes the idea but doubts their abilities just get ahold of me and I can try and help you out.

I lol'd at you third "action shot" picture. Cool project, I never put my feet outside the door because I'm always shifting and stopping.

Silly question, what keeps the peg from turning in the hinge?

As I recall, the cerebral cortex doesn't fully develop and allow full cognitive ability until the mid 20's.

Man, guess I was wrong by thinking it was a good idea!!!! It's a god damn good thing I don't really care what you guys think because it's my jeep not yours. To answer the question of how I keep them from spinning I tighten the nut down kinda like how tighten down wheel or any other nut for that matter. To answer the question about me being a kid, this one I find hilarious because I am far from a kid, I am 35 with 2 kids and a wife. I guess I will just remember this the next time one of you post some dumb ass comment!! Peace!!!!

Hey man they look good to me, I'd probably make a pair if I didn't like hanging my arm out/over my half doors so freaking much. In all honesty too, I've seen worse pegs that people have made before.

I might actually try to fab up a pair for my friend who just bought a CJ7 the other day since he has full doors and takes em off.

Looks like it would work. Do you think the end of the cobra will hold together or just slip off as it loosens up? I'm all about Para cord but to be honest all it took was a bumble bee on the inside of the knee to stop me from putting my leg out.

Lol I have never encountered the bumble bee yet. The way I end my cobra knots I wrap it around the bottom and then melt it with a lighter so to be honest I don't picture it ever being able to work it's way loose. I have had my paracord bracelet for 2 years now that I made and wear almost every day just in case I need some rope and it's still perfect.

Have you ever tried making things with paracord? Obviously not because you would not question my age or cerebral cortex if you even tried making some of the things I can make with it. As earl mentioned don't sling shit about something you know nothing about.

Make this out of paracord and a pool ball and then you can talk shit. Till then keep your pointless thoughts to yourself. This forum is about brotherhood and helping eachother come up with cheap cool ideas not smack talk.

To anyone that likes it I appreciate your input and questions!!

I like them. I made some custom pegs myself. I welded some SS hex bar to the head of a bolt. Works like a champ. The paracord is pretty cool though.

Lol yea that bad boy stays at home, I am not much for getting into fights these days, those were my younger wilder years. I just wanted to see if I could do it because when I found the instructional on it it looked insanely difficult and I was right. Thanx though!!

Pretty cool. I've never had a break with my YJ, stuff always breaks, so I've never really thought of making foot pegs. I usually just hang my foot out the door, I'm fairly tall but a lift kit prevents my foot from dragging on the ground. Typically I'm shifting and stopping and going though, but there is one road that is 55 MPH and I take it for about two miles to work, but nobody is on it at 6 AM. That's a fun drive.

It's your Jeep, the awesome things about Jeeps, especially the older ones like YJs, is that they are very custom. They don't all have the same paint job, bumper, lights, and tires.

I'm taking the other comments as an elbow in the side to mess with you, not genuine insults.

I have no paracord skills.
I do like the ride leverage I get from the peg on a long stretch when I'm done shifting this bucking bronc.

I added a lock to keep those paracord yokels from upgrading.

There are some excellent tutorials online, I think I have made key lanyards for myself my wife and almost my entire family at some point. I have made grab handles for several jeeps throughout the country also. I usually do them while sittin and relaxing after work. The key is to make each knot as extremely tight as you can get them. GL!!

DIY Footpegs

Bought these motorcycle foot pegs on ebay for $5.78. I modified them slightly by cutting off the bottom tab where they bolt on and cutting off the the round threaded post on the bottom, and touched up the exposed metal with black paint.
