Diy seat covers

Has anyone made there own seat covers before??? I would like to do it. Seat covers are expensive! I just need a plan to make a set and to get the materials. Anyone else interested in doing this or that has already done this?! Thanks in advance

i don't know first hand but i would think you would have at least 3/4 the price of seat covers just in a good quality material to make your own. then you have to be betsy ross to make them....lol

I just had mine reupholstered with marine grade vinyl for $200 bucks a seat. If your going to spend the money on covers look for an upholstery shop first. You might get lucky an find somewhere cheap.

I have actually taken the seat apart, pulled the original vinyl off of the foam, taken all the seams apart, made a pattern from the pieces, cut out new vinyl, sewed it all together, and reupholstered the stock seats with added foam for better cushion and in custom colors to match the new paintjob.

But I have since taken those seats out and replaced them with captain's chairs from the 2nd row seats out of a Chrysler Voyager mini van. High back with head rests, reclines and made of leather.

To redo the stock seats...I have about 50 hrs and 100 bucks into the job. Wanted to do it in that waterproof neoprene material, but it would've been another $150 just for that material...It's pricey.

Why not trying to get a custom fit seat cover?
I ordered some for my daughter's wrangler online for a bit more than $200 for the 2 front seats and the quality is really nice -plus they fit really well.
Have a look at proseatcovers.com.
Good luck
