I think the hardest part would be getting a drill in the engine bay to make the holes in the frame rails, on top of what you mentioned... it would probably aid in keeping your engine bay cleaner.

Very Nice! Let's see how reasonable the price is. Again, many thanks for doing this...

the holes should already be there.

but I haven't had my shroud in place for a year or so. Is it really that necessary?

The holes comment was directed at Luckymacs question of retrofitting a pre 91 YJ

Ask me how I damaged my splash shield

Looks good.
Where's mine? :-)
Not on his website yet. Are you giving it the stamp of approval before they're available?

I’m not sure why he hasn’t listed them on his website yet, but yes this is a perfect replica in every sense of the word.

Recently I changed my water pump which required the removal of the shroud, when the pump was installed and I was ready to test it I took a short drive to the end of my driveway, that was all it took for the fan to suck up the splash shield and damage it, luckily it wasn’t at a much faster pace or some serious damage may have of occurred.

So in a nut shell the splash shield requires the shroud.

Jon's comment about the front splash shields got me thinking.

I have a 2" body lift (will be replaced with a 1"BL). If I had wider splash shields between the fender aprons and the frame, perhaps I could keep some mud out of my engine compartment. With that in mind, I went out and looked at the area between my frame and fender apron. I only have a short shield on each side from the shock absorber back.
It would be simple enough to pop the old shield off and use it as a partial template to make a full shield that was an inch or so wider to cover the entire frame to apron gap from the radiator panel to the firewall.

While I was out in the garage, I looked under the Jeep. I don't have any holes in the frame or the shroud for a later model splash shield.
My build date is 11 April 1986. The Jeep hasn't needed it for the past 33 years of it's life so installing a later model splash shield is close to the bottom of my to-do list.

Good Luck, L.M.

I have 1 on each side going from the shock tower forward, and 1 on each side from the shock tower back. They are in perfect condition.

I too would be interested in a BL kit to add 1.25”. I have a RC 1.25” body lift kit, just not excited about dealing with the bolts yet, lol.

IRQ suggested I contact the guy and see if he is interested in getting ahold of these and making them up.

Wonder if there would be an incentive to a stock set, 1” BL and 2” BL?

There are 2 more splash shields, one on each side underneath, right behind the front fenders.

Got a few more I'm doing.

Any help identifying where they go? These are all from a YJ.

The top 2 are at the rear of front fenders and the middle 2 are at the front of the front fenders. Rear splash apron and front splash apron per the FSM.

The bottom 2 are at the bottom back of the engine compartment/fenders. Fender inner splash shield.

I think that's all. The rear inner fenders were molded plastic.

Great info thanks! I'll get working on these Have a Mopar muscle car show near Minneapolis coming up so may not be as fast as the big splash shield.

There are a couple more 27 & 28... but I’ve only seen them in the part book, never on an actual YJ
