Engine splash shield

So recently I managed to damage my engine splash shield, it should surprise no one that the part is no longer made, so the search began.

I found a company that not only has the original material but is willing to cut them out, coincidentally he also makes our gas tank pads

Anyway I’m going to send him mine for a template soon and I just thought more people might be interested in acquiring one of these?

According to Chrysler part catalogs the splash shield in question (SHIELD, Alternator Splash) fits the 91-95 2.5 & 4.0 engines of our YJ’s.

If you are interested reply and I will get the word out to him so he can have an idea how many to make.

I would go to the hardware store & pick-up a role of rubber mat & a sharp box knife.
Unroll the mat > throw your orig on it > trace it > cut it.
Just an idea & pretty cheap to do...

I could do this, I could even buy the original material as well and do it, however supporting these guys who still make parts for our old vehicles is also something I could do

The tank skid mat is $24.00, so it’s reasonable to assume they won’t be priced outrageously, once he gets mine as a template I’m sure he will have a better idea.

I ripped my engine splash shields out years ago the gas tank pad would be nice to have though. Last time i dropped my tank my pad was still in good shape though.

The Rear fender wells that protect the taillights would be awesome too.

Yes they have that little 90* bend with the plastic pins to hold it onto fender well, Mine are all broken at the 90 requiring creative zip tying. Don't know what your guy is set up for, just reminded about it when I saw your post.

I think this guy primarily deals with rubber materials, we would be looking for some one that does injection molding for those and the molds them selves might be cost prohibitive.

I wonder about 3D printing though?

I would love to have new rear fender liners and flaps that keep mud out of the taillight area.

I used OTR mud flaps for rear inner fender liners. Cut them a !little wider than they have to be and the pressure of being slightly to large holds then in place. Get junkers cheap or off the side of the road.

@IRQ I was looking at my jeep over the weekend and thinking about this splash shield. I honestly didn't even know there was ever one from the factory and was wondering what exactly it mounts to. Looks like it mounts to the frame on the sides, but what about the front and back?

Also any ideas on the clips we need to install? It looks like part #30 in the diagram from the first post, but there is no part number listed. I believe they might be 6030441?

The portion with 3 holes mounts right under the shroud, the back is not mounted, there are 2-3 mounting points on each frame rail.

It is fastened by those plastic push pins (you know the ones that never come out), they can be typically acquired at any auto parts store.

Here’s a photo I took a number of years ago when I had my grille off that should illustrate it well.

According to Chrysler part catalogs the splash shield in question (SHIELD, Alternator Splash) fits the 91-95 2.5 & 4.0 engines of our YJ’s.
.................................................. .................................................. ....
My '87 naturally didn't have such an item. I wonder if it's a benefit to retrofit one on my heap? We don't have a lot of water crossings here in Colorado but if it protects the alternator, it just might protect the distributor too.
The clips to install it should be available in any auto parts store.

Then again, it might be more trouble than it's worth. Gee, figuring this out is my greatest problem of the day.
Life is good.

Good Luck, L.M.
